Yes, who knows the distribution of the "internal memo" and how many have actually read it. If it's not public, we really can't depend upon it carrying any weight if needed. And since the property can choose to not abide by it by declaring a "special event", it has no weight. And going by anecdotal reports does not make policy, so again, there's nothing to hang your hat on.

Is it asking too much for MI to officially state what a Platinum member should expect if different from anyone else and not leave it up to the whim of the agent you're talking to at the time?

Given it's Marriott we're talking about, the answer is unfortunately yes.
