I have found Marriott Customer Service to be very well run although I can see why some think they appear a little arrogant.
I have the reverse experience trying to match over to HHonors. It was all done by e-mail and they were very responsive. I was pretty impressed but decided to not start the challenge/match until after my vacation.
I rarely stay at Hiltons but have the impression that Hilton has better bedding. I really don't like the pillows at SHS and FI - they are worse than Holiday Inn Express!
Is HHonors that bad?

50% of what? FT members? Which is about .001% of Hilton total guests? What do you expect to achieve? Utter nonsense.

Diamondkellen, it might not hurt to contact the manager of the property you are wanting to stay at.
Many years ago when I had earned Gold, my rental car was broken into in San Antonio, along with ten other cars. I only lost a GPS, rental company repaired the window at no charge, so not much harm done to me but a lost morning.
The Marriott manager apologized in person, and bumped me to Platinum. I may have earned Plat that year anyway but it was a nice gesture.

2. Guess it depends where in Asia. Certainly there are plenty of Marriott properties in China, for example.
Cheers.

You make a good point Wan1dap. I can't even get the OP of this thread who wants to leave HHonors for Marriott to complete the move. Are you sure its only .001% and not maybe 10%?

Your not loyal to Marriott..Why should they reward you for no loyalty? Its much harder to earn Platinum Marriott Status than it is Hilton Diamond Status..there is no comparison..Apples to Oranges..Marriott demands more from its elites and rewards them with better properties and amenities.

Any status is easy with my travel 250 nights a year, and I don't think Marriott demands more from it's members, I once was with Marriott and was unimpressed. As for properties that's all in what city you are traveling to, Hilton has better hotels in all but 2 of the cities I visit, but those 2 cities is why this email came about.
