Posting Nights and Points Credits
OK so if I buy a shirt at a dept store in Bangkok and charge it on my Chase credit card, it will show up on my CC account before I even get back the hotel within an hour--same if I make an ATM withdrawal in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The charge back is instantaneous.
Why the *h--l* does it take Marriott hotels 5 -7 days to post nights and points credits? And then you wonder all along if you might need to file a "Missing Nights Stay" report.
My inquiring mind would like to know.

I think ATM transactions and Credit Card transactions are more important to companies then posting points, so they probably have better technology in place for that.

It also depends on the property from what I have seen. My nights/points usually post within 2 days. But I did have one property where it took well over a week to post (about 10 days I think).

I agree it is frustrating and depends on the property. Starwood properties generally post the next day, FWIW.

Yes, I know that I was in error to blame Marriott Corporate for the problem. It most certainly is the problem of individual properties, but it seems that there should be a way to more efficiently automate the process.
And there is no efficient way to directly contact the hotel except the cumbersome method of trying to contact someone in authority who just might pay attention using the MARSHA code. A direct contact with the hotel could resolve the problem and I have used that method when I have previously established a direct contact with a guest services person, rooms mgr or fd mgr.
For example, in my latest situation my MR number was on the confirmed reservation, and I was asked about the Plat gift at registration--said I wanted points. Was also asked at check-out if I had selected points (said yes)--but after 7 days nothing has shown up on my account. And a couple of days ago I noticed that my MR number was not included on my final bill.
My experience is that if nights and points do not show up after 3-4 days they simply won't show up. But Marriott will not allow a Missing Stay to be filed until 10 days have passed. I have never had to wait 10 days w/o a legitimate stay being posted. That is my experience over many years and many stays--of course your mileage may vary.
I sent a complaint to the hotel 3 days ago, but no response.

I usually call MR customer service if a stay hasn't posted within a week. My experience has been that they manually post the stay the same day once I send them a copy of the bill
