Double Dipping on Promotions?

Not sure if this has been answered before. Did a quick search but could not find anything. Anyway, here is the situation: I am currently registered for "Marriott Rewards Unexpected Bonus" and "Escape the Everyday" promotions. Under the "Escape the Everyday" promotion, I need to stay twice at SpringHill Suites to get my bonus. So, my question is: Can I stay twice at SpringHill Suites to get the "Escape the Everyday" bonus as well as the "Marriott Rewards Unexpected Bonus", essentially double dipping? Thank you!

Marriott always allows this, how would they determine which promotion you wanted each stay credited to?

No, not always!

They could guess, they could choose whichever one you registered for first, there's lots of ways.

My point is that even if Marriott allows it, not all hotel programs (nor all airlines) allow stacking in all cases. There are some (non-Marriott) promotions out there which are not combinable with other promotions, per the official rules. (Sometimes that's just wording and doesn't really mean anything, but other times it means you really can't combine them, and if you register for both, it can be hard to know for sure which one you will get and which one you won't get!)

And even at Marriott, there is one kind of promo double dipping you can't do. While you can register for both a MegaMiles (miles bonus) and a MegaBonus / Unexpected Bonus (points bonus), you can't earn them both on the same stay. You have to choose between earning miles or earning points on a particular stay, and you only earn points bonuses if earning points and only earn miles bonuses if earning miles.

So, for example, if the question had been asked "can I earn the SpringHill Suites points bonus and a miles bonus on the same stay, the answer would have been no! It's only because the OP is asking about two points bonuses that the answer is yes.

But that's got nothing to do with double dipping, it's whether or not you are currently set to earn points or miles. Very, very easy to determine which one the guest is registered for.

Let's say Marriott had 2 promotions running and you were auto-registered for both- one was 2 stays at Springhill Suites in June nets you 5000 points, another was earn a cat 1-5 cert after every other stay June-Aug. You have 2 stays in June at SHS. How would they determine whether you wanted 5000 points or a cat 1-5 cert? That would be an administrative nightmare.

Again, it has definitely happened in other programs, so it's possible. It's often something really simple, like whichever promo you registered for first is the only one that works. So it's not that Marriott couldn't do it, it's just that they don't want to do it.

The programs that have done such lockouts between multiple promos have clear "not combinable with other promotions" language in the promo T&Cs. If you don't see that in Marriott's promos' T&Cs, that (rather than "administrative nightmare") is why Marriott promos stack while promos at some other programs' promos don't (at least not always).

Just called Marriott and asked if the Welcome Back promotion I received (for a Cat 1-4 night after two stays from now to November 30) could be stacked with the fall MegaBonus, which runs from 9/15 to 1/15. She replied with an emphatic "yes" when I asked if two stays in October would qualify me for two free nights, one from each promotion. Has anyone experienced any problems in this regard?
