This in and of itself is fishy as I would HOPE beyond all hopes that the best and brightest and most senior reps make it onto the dedicated line used to service their most loyal customers.
If this isnt what is going on one could argue what good is the platinum phone line? --DD73 |

Now you are saying that the hotels "facts" screen being displayed doesn't mean that the NPC has been granted. So let's try this again from the beginning and I will keep it to one simple question: How do CSRs know if the hotel has been granted a blackout for a special event? |

I'm PP and just experienced the Platinum Override Blackout at the Courtyard in Springfield, IL. I called the Platinum desk, who called the hotel - no room for you. But, they could book me at the Fairfield next door. Nope - a Fairfield is just too low on the food chain (thin walls, etc.).

OK, we are going around in circles here. How do CSRs know if the hotel has been granted a blackout for a special event? |
Question re: Plat Guarantee
OK, I haven't been plat all that long. I know there is a plat over-ride for "sold out" properties with 48 hour notice, except during special events.
Does this apply to all propterties (CY, etc.?) Also, will this show up online? Just checked a room at the CY in Erie, PA for 4/22-24 and was told "no availability". What gives? tks... |
From my understanding the platinum override applies to all properties, although not necessarily at the rate that would have been offered had the hotel not been fully committed (The Stanford Courts platinum override rate is $800/night). I haven't had much need for it so I could be mistaken here, but, while often it does show up online, just because it does not doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't a platinum override available, just that a rate isn't open in MARSHA. I would try contacting either the Platinum line or the hotel directly and they should be able to make a reservation for you. Again, I don't have a lot of experience with this particular benefit so if I'm wrong, someone feel free to correct me.

I have found that even if one is logged-in, if you do an "area" search, the online tool sometimes seems to not register the Plat overide. IOW, I can do a search for available Marriotts in Orlando and if some of the hotels are sold out they won't show up in the list. But if I search for availability on directly on that over-sold hotel, it will show up with availability. So be careful how you search.

I did that...and I'm getting:
Courtyard Erie Erie, PA More hotel information ** NO ROOMS AVAILABLE FOR REQUESTED DATES ** ** 1 room was not available at this hotel. Please make a selection from other hotels listed below. The hotel(s) below have 1 room(s) available. Distance and direction from your original choice is noted to help with your selection. |

Could one of my fellow Plats see if they can get a room for June 22-24 at the Courtyard in Erie, PA? I'd like to know if I'm doing something wrong of if the hotel has just plain killed it's availability through the "event" loophole. If I'm not logged in, I get the same "no hotels available" message. But if I log in, then I get the same listings as imverge does. You may want to call MR to ask them to look for you and possibly check your account to make sure you are listed as a Plat and have access to the Plat Overide.

Hope cargojon doesn't mind me building off his post, but I had an interesting res/plat situation this AM that I have never seen before.
Made a res at the SHS in Richmond, VA. (NW) Got a weekend rate of $99. Nice. Needed a 2nd room, so went over to Mr. Sophie's account, and tried to book - $129 per night. (I am plat, he is silver) Hmmmm, not so nice. Go back to my account, and try to book 2nd room. No can do - says platinum overide is in effect, and I can only have 1 room. IS there such a thing as a plat override for a RATE? I thought it was for actual room availability? since hhoope01 and imverge are the mini-experts, am hoping they come back to this post! |

do you mean it shouldn't have given ME as the plat a $99rate, OR it shouldn't have given me as Mr. Sophie a HIGHER rate. I am asking {as I} still need the 2 rooms and for obvious reasons like $99 better than $129! I had rebooked at the CY for $94, but of course, as is endlessly repeated here on FT - no breakfast. ALSO - should I call the hotel or the plat line to get it corrected? It must be very new, we have relatives in Ric, are there fairly often, and I do not remember ever seeing this listed before - and know we have stayed in properties listed all around it. |
