Frustrations with Marriott Systems-Help From Staff Changing a CC
So, I have a new AMEX. Canceled my wife's. I got a Plat for the increased travel benefits.
I called tonight to change the CC my current reservations are guaranteed with. (Updating the profile only impacts future reservations.)
The plat. agent was very helpful. My wife logged in to my Marriott account and asked me what happened to all of my points. What?!!? I haven't used them.
The three rewards reservations I have (including a week at the C-E in May) all pulled the points again. (Although the C-E original reservation is a TP.)
Marriott fixed it and returned all points.Took about 45 mins on the phone.
I was missing about 200k+ points!

I know its moot for you now but I don't think the card you "guarantee" with really matters to Marriott's systems. For some reason I have a real old, expired AMEX in my profile which I've never been asked to update and I always give them my Chase Marriott Visa at check-in...

Interesting. I had always been afraid of losing a guaranteed reservation or room type etc. if my CC wasn't valid.

I, too, canceled the cc I had stored in my Marriott profile. I added the new credit card to my profile and changed that cc number to my existing booking. Piece of cake.
Marriott CS had told me that can't be done and I should call to ask them to make the changes but they just don't have a clue and say a lot of BS. Business as usual.
