Special Needs Children and Room Type Selection

I have a three year old with special needs (autism) and try to book special room types when travelling (e.g.; two bedroom suites, adjoining rooms). SPG has historically been really good about allowing me to use points for large suites, but I've had trouble with Marriott for an upcoming trip to the Chicago area. I ended up paying for a two bedroom suite because the room was not eligible to use points. Does anyone have any experience (or have had any luck) in booking large suites, adjoining rooms, or both, with rewards points? At some point in the future it'd be great to use points for larger rooms.

Thanks!

I would suggest emailing the Front Desk Manager (or Calling). I think you will find that they will be accomodating.
