Got the 120K base miles. Anyone know how long the bonus miles take to post?

Travel Package with AA miles

I know Marriott is ending their relationship with AA on June 30. If I want to order a travel package with AA miles can I wait until the end of June or do I need to call in advance.

GetawaysRus Jun 7, 2010 7:25 am

I was on the phone with a Marriott CSR last week about this same issue.

The CSR recommended that I take care of the request by June 25th because there can be up to a several day delay for posting of the AA miles to your account. Submitting your request by June 25 will give you a several day buffer in case of any problems or delays. If you wait until June 30, the miles may not make it in time.

I'm going to need to transfer some Marriott points from my wife's account to mine in order to take a travel package. To do this, Marriott faxes a form to you, both individuals need to sign to agree to the points transfer, and you then fax the form back. We've completed the form, and I'll probably fax it back to them by mid-late June.

thanks for the question

I was wondering the same thing; I'm going to redeem multiple packages and get the biggest bang for the MR buck

now to figure out what to do with the hotel piece of the redemption

Ditto.

Vker's 50% bonus miles posted today. We now have 180,000 miles with US AIR. US Airways is also offering 100% bonus for purchased miles (up to 50k miles yielding 100k)!!!

AA no longer on Marriott website - must call

I transferred several packages last week. When I went online to make the transfer - AA is not even listed as one of the airline choices anymore.
I had to call - and they were very nice and did the transaction no problem. Miles were there the next morning.

Can you redeem on-line for other airlines as I tried this morning and seem to go round a loop.

Out of curiosity, what level are folks redeeming when you don't know how (where) you'll use the 7 nights?

One thought is go for cat 5, but only if you can make up the difference somehow if you decide to stay at a cat 6 or cat 7. Is there a way? Is it paying additional points, or money, or what?

I'm going to take a category 5 travel package, sock away some AA miles before the drop dead date of June 30 for mileage transfers to AA, and then hope to use the hotel portion later. The Marriott rep that I spoke with on the phone said that you can later upgrade that to a higher category hotel by "paying" the difference in points.

hhoope01 Jun 16, 2010 11:53 am

I've been able to extend beyond a year, upgrade and once I even downgraded the hotel portion of a TP award (I went from a Cat. 6 down to a Cat. 5.)

So if you aren't sure where you want to use the hotel portion order the Cat. 5 and upgrade it if you find you want to use it at a Cat. 6 or higher property.

Thanks for the quick and responsive posts, GetawaysRus and hhoope01. That's exactly what I'll do.
