I had sent an email inquiry about it and got a yes response but there would be a $20 x 2 fee to do so. I guess that's somewhat fair given the pretty personalized printing on the certificates.

Gonna UPS them back this week, will report when I get credited. They will expire 12/29/12 anyway, exactly one year after I ordered them.... Can't even use for a New Years trip I have coming up...

Wonder if I pre-pay upon arrival (12/28) if they would be honored???

as I recall, and knowing this is NOT within your control, the extension for this year wasn't announced until 30 December............ hopefully a few extra days notice would be welcomed............

I was speaking to a supervisor at Marriott Rewards last month about a couple of issues and expressed my displeasure at the disappearance of the BOGOs. She stated a lot of Elites were complaining about it (funny when according to Mr. French, nobody knew about them.) She then went on to say that the 135K points/$1000 gift cheques program was also going to be eliminated after December 31, 2012, so I should make sure I didn't wait to the last minute to order them.

Now that's not to say our good friend Mr. French won't jump in and extend the program again on December 30, but with his previous track record I won't be holding my breath!

Elite Only - $1,000 in Marriott Gift Cheques 135,000

Can these cheques be used in Canada? Meaning will hotels apply exorbitant US$/CAD exchange rate or will they apply a reasonable market exchange rate?

Just tried to find the "elite only rewards" on marriott.com and cannot even though we were assured we had until the end of the year.

They can be found if you go to Marriott Rewards > "Use Marriott Rewards Points" > "Travel and Unwind" > "Marriott GiftCards & Gift Cheques"

any news on the $1000 gift cheques?
