I have always used them just like cash--on any rate or for anything charged to your room
I have none on hand, so cannot post the T&C's, but it is important to know they exist. Also - the expiration date will not be extended under any circumstance, and you cannot receive "change". However, I still beleive they are a good value, and they provide a great flexibility when balancing the "points to cash" proposition. I certainly plan on ordering them before year end, and is another perk that will be missed.....:( |

Michelle says it is because the company that prints them won't print them any more.

Caution! there are some restrictions on the backs of these cheques. For the most part I have not had issues - but on 2 separate occasions they were declined and I had no recourse.

This is cool.. all my work travel needs ID (Govt rates) but personal travel I usually find last minute deals and the fact these earn nights and points is very attractive..
Put it this way.. I am staying with the family in the Renascence in downtown Chicago for 109 a night.. that would be 35K in points or just over 1/10th of a 1000 Marriott cheque or just under 14k points.. |
BTW where in the system do I find these? Can I order as a gold or do I need to wait the few days before I go plat?
Thanks! |

I like to use them for meals and incidentals. Doesn't matter what rate you are on when you do that.

Another benefit bites the dust. Yeah sure, I bet it'll be available 'once or twice' during the year as a card... just like BOGO would come back too.
Or, if it does change into a card, it'll be at least 2x the points. |
The only thing holding me back from jumping on this is if there is another hotel transfer bonus from US Airways coming that will allow me to use the points to buy a air/hotel package and earn bonus miles. But, that typically happens towards the end of the year anyway, so it may be safe to go ahead and redeem, I guess.

how often are these used apart from those that are on FT? when i used them at a recent stay in AMS, the FD staff who processed said the last time had someone use them was at least a year previously. i just ordered one set over the phone to request expedited handling and the rep and the supervisor said these were very infrequently ordered. per the rep, the super actually contacted her super to make sure they were doing the expediting correctly.
i only had one hotel not accept the cheques when i was on a CO rate and have not had a problem using them generally, even at my CO rate. these have been great. |
