How you can increase "Bonus Points"

My method:
  1. Book a rate that includes "Bonus Points"
  2. Complete the stay
  3. Check account to insure "Bonus Points" didn't post
  4. Contact MR Customer Service
  5. Receive extra points when manager apologizes.

I think he was joking (although given the way Marriott can screw up normal points his strategy follows what happens).

Properties will have a book this rate, get x bonus points. I've seen that at dif properties & have booked some of those rates (when the rate itself made sense to do so). Those are not elite dependent, but are usually more local promotion rate/property specific. And they're not ongoing but usually for a certain period of time.

Cheers.

Sometimes, you can book rates under the Marriott Rewards tab that has bonus points. I've seen them.

based upon your reply I just went thru 10-pgs in promos available and found MANY with % off, bonus bucks, free weekend nights, parking but only 1 stating bonus points so this OP is stating that he gonna specifically go to the only hotel offering bonus points in the hope that the prop doesn't post the points so he can file a complaint and get more points............... now I've heard of crazies, but this OP is totally off the wall as there are numerous, much more simplier ways of padding ones acc't then following this OPs idea.............

I read nowhere that the OP is only looking for hotels with bonus points.
But the deals with bonus points can be really attractive!

Talk about getting bent out of shape over nothing. Geesh.

I seriously doubt most FTers are going to search out hotels offering bonus points solely in hopes the bonus points don't post. Most, if they're looking at properties in an area where they need/want to be, will book a property offering bonus points (if the rate makes sense). If they post as they should, great. If not, then what the OP suggests will probably result in some extra points being thrown their way - ie, his "method".

BTW - we've had a few threads recently where FTers have had to chase down their bonus points because they didn't post properly.

On a dif note. If anyone does happen to be in Leipzig that's a pretty good promo on the bonus points! Usually I see 1,000 or 2,500 bonus point.

Cheers.

There are currently 116 bonus points offer. You can just do a search for the city/state of your intended stay and see if any of the properties there are offering bonus points.

For example, if staying in Detroit, you'll see that the Courtyard Detroit Pontiac/Bloomfield is offering 6,000 bonus points per night. If staying there for let's say 4 nights, that's 24,000 in bonus points.

I have only called and complained once, and it was because I was on the phone for two hours while at a Marriott. I ended up getting some points credited to my account, but I honestly wish Marriott would learn how to correctly post points; This is the reason I left Hilton. I have already had to call Marriott a few times this year regarding incorrect points and each time I call the agent always recalculates it wrong and I have to call again.

Man, this certainly didn't turn out like I intended.

The whole story is:

Week before last I stayed at 3 Marriott properties. 2 FI & I RI. All the rates I booked included "Bonus Points" No special effort, the rates were readily available under the "Marriott Rewards Offers" tab. 2 were for 1,000 pts and 1 was for 4,000 pts. When the trip was over and the two 1,000 point bonuses didn't post I sent a quick email to MR Customer Service inquiring. Within 24 hours the managers at both properties had contacted me apologizing for in- house procedures not being followed. In each case they gave me an additional 1,000 pts for the error.

This was not the first time (more like the 10th) this had happened so I thought I would poke a little fun at MR. Once again I learned that I don't communicate sarcasm very well!

I thought your sarcasm was very apparent. Some people just don't have a sense of humor.

Agreed. Senses of humor are in inverse proportion to stickiness of punctuation keys on one's keyboard.
