My wife & I stayed there last summer while on vacation. It was my first stay at a Renaissance, and we enjoyed it very much. I will admit that I kinda expected R's to be a step above a standard Marriott (they are supposed to be...right?) but didnt find it any nicer than most standard Marriott properties. Nonetheless, I would stay their again. The staff was excellent.

The LHR R is often very inexpensive (as low as UK#55 recently, so I swap between there and the Slough Marriott.

And the MAN Marriott is quite inexpensive...74GBP for a great room and breakfast! Some problems with understaffing, but even when the shuttle to MAN wasn't working, they called a cab and on their pound, sent us on our way. Very nice touch!

I've stayed at the Ren Heathrow & used both Hoppa Hoppa (a charge) & the bus (free). I had to wait forever at Heathrow for the HH; the pro is that it dropped me off at the entrance to the Ren. I used the bus to go to/from Heathrow 3 days in a row & caught Picadilly line into town (cheaper than HExpress although more stops); no charge (and you can take your luggage on as you would w/ the HH); con is that it drops you across the street from the entrance so if you do have luggage you'll have to shlep it across to the hotel entrance. I found the Ren Hth to be fine. Marriott a bit more modern & just down the street. The bus will also drop you off at the Marriott Hth.
