I made Platinum in the spring of 2002 using the 13-14 months (because of 9-11) - was under the impression that beccause of that, I was Platinum for the rest of 2002 and all of the next year -2003. Marriott says no that I only got Platinum for 2002 and because I only had 38 nights in 2002, they was only make me Gold for 2003 and that was because of a courtesy on their part! Anyone make Platinum under similar way and get Platinum for 2003 also?

well, i am on my way home today after 2 weeks on the road.
i am in a similar situation to others here - in '01 I styaed like 150 nights, and only about 40 in '02. The PLT card I currently have in my wallet has an expiration date of 1/31/03.
As of 2/11, The Marriott website still shows me as PLT and am currently at IAH marriott and was ofefred PLT amenity card at check in.
So, I am trying not to get my hopes up when I have to open 2 weeks of mail this evening.
Update: Good news - got a nice letter from Bill thanking me for my business and new PLT card when I got home.

I had to call Marriott Rewards, and they "allowed a ONE time exemption" and upgraded me back to Platinum for 2003.
They only allowed it because "I was 3 nights shy of Plat" to begin with.
Oh well. My Marriott Plat status is the least valuable of any of my elite status: 1K, Hertz Gold PC, Marriott Plat.
If I don't make Plat next year, Hilton here I come
