positive comments about the Panama Marriott
I spent a few nights at the Panama Marriott (PTY) over the holidays and enjoyed excellent service throughout my stay.
I had a slight upgrade snafu at check-in (my status wasn't showing the reservation, and the front desk was having real problems getting proof on my status from US reservations), but Yareli at the front desk did an excellent job of following up to confirm my Platinum status, process my upgrade, and get us our amenity the following day. It was nice to hear her say "well, Mr. Snorkmaster, we have to upgrade you and get your amenity" rather that remind the front desk staff. It was a real pleasure to not have to follow up on a problem on my own.
The property is quite new, the rooms are very spacious, and the staff is exceptionally polite. All in all, a great experience.
As an aside, when I tried to get assistance from assorted folks at Marriott to get confirmation of my status faxed to Panama, I ran into nothing but trouble -- blind transfers, conflicting answers, and the sort. I spoke with several different people in several different areas before giving up.
