quality of rooms when using reward packages?

I am a brand new owner of 2 Marriott Vacation Club weeks and also a user of the Visa card. I am quickly gathering points and I think I understand how the packages are used. Is the quality of the rooms given to rewards users usually good or do they just set aside the rooms of lower value? Is there a way to assure that you get a good room? Thanks for the help.
