Comments/ feedback on Renaissance Niagara Falls?
Any comments on this hotel? From the website http://www.infoniagara.com/d-hotel-renaissance.html and http://www.renaissancefallsview.com/ , it looks pretty decent.

Sorry I don't have info on this particular hotel, but if you are interested in Marriott properties, I did stay at the Marriott Courtyard in the area Memorial Day weekend and it was a beautiful property, fairly new, and large rooms. We actually had a whirlpool suite with fireplace (electric)and it was huge, more than 2X the size of a standard hotel room.

Flyaway: I stayed there last summer -- the hotel was nice enough (and near enough the falls to walk back and forth), but the staff doesn't get any gold stars from me. As a platinum member, they didn't upgrade me, wouldn't allow club entrance, and didn't provide the platinum amenity, even after three phone calls. Plus, they got the billing wrong and it took the three days I was there to try and get it straightened out. I don't think I'd stay there again.

I also have stayed at the hotel - twice as was disappointed both times. I am platinum and didn't get the "gift" either time.
The only good part was the price, I paid under $80/night / cdn both times.

I stayed there this summer, and thought it had it's plusses and minuses. Everything is nice, new and modern, with a good, fluffy "Marriott Bed" in the room. Even our 'standard' view room had a halfway decent view of the Falls. The Marriott sits on top of a cliff, and the only way to get to the Falls is to pay to take a tram down, or pay to take the Marriott shuttle to the 'happening' part of town. Parking is Valet only and they bring your car to a lot down the street from the hotel.

The Marriott and the Courtyard are both decent hotels with fair rates for the area. Avoid weekends to save money. Also avoid the tourist-trap restaurants targeted at US visitors. The Denny's and TGI Friday's adjacent to the Courtyard charge from 2 to 5 times what the same restaurants a 10-minute drive away on the American side do for the same food. Much more than the rate of exchange. There ought to be a law.
