creative requalification

I am a few nights short of renewing my MR silver status but don't have a lot of available time off before end of the year. As I read the rules, you must stay 15 nights within one calendar year for requalification. So, here's my question: can I check into 2 separate Marriott hotels in the same city on the same night? Will this be noticed or will anyone care as long as I pay for both? Opinions please...

I'm sure you could do it and there should be no problem. The points and nights will post. I have actually done this where there were only 2 rooms available at the LAX Renaissance and 3 at the Marriott (and I needed 4 total). So I got 2 rooms in each hotel and the points posted just fine.

The First USA Bank Marriott Rewards VISA gives you comp Silver status. I'm not sure about its availability in Canada, however.

Your points will post from each different hotel for the same nights, however you will not get 4 nights credited for the same two nights stayed. Only two! Another example---Using W-14 vouchers (Free nights)-The points for meals etc. will post, but unless they mess up when posting your stay, you won't receive credit for the nights.
