Camelback for Children
I need an opinion on how kids would be welcome at the Camelback in Scottsdale. I was fortunate enough to get an award week for March 1, 2003, but before I blow 270,000 points on the travel package I need some help.
We recently adopted our second child (after my reservation), so I will have a 3 and a 1 year old during the trip.
I know the spa and such are set up for adults, but are there things to do for kids at the resort and in Scottsdale? My daughter's favorite thing is swimming at the pool. Are the rooms big enough for 4 people?
Thanks for your advice on helping me decide.

Yes, the Camelback is very kid friendly. They have two nice pools. The rooms are in casitas so there are no hallways and the rooms are quite large. You'll have no problem in a room with two double beds. I wouldn't say there's an awful lot for a 1 yr old and a 3 yr old to do in Scottsdale. Be aware the early part of March can have variable weather, ranging from quite warm to cool and raining.

We asked the same question of the Camelback a couple of years ago. While they said children were "welcome" at the resort, they encouraged us to stay at one of the other Marriott Scottsdale properties - Mountain Shadows or Cottonwoods. Mountain Shadows did have an excellent children's program, but my children prefer the pools at Cottonwoods, which is now our regular spot in Scottsdale. There is lots for kids in the area in March including FAO Schwarz, McCormick (sp) Railroad Park and many kid-friendly restaurants. Given a few days I could compile a longer list - email if you wish.

Sorry to tell you, but FAO Shwarz has closed its store in Scottsdale.
For older children, a program or a choice of pools might be important, but for Toddlers...not so much. I would think that as long as there would be enough room for the three yr old to run around, and the one yr old to play; it would be plenty comfortable.
You might want to consider checkign out the room service and restaurant menues; I know my toddler is demanding when it comes to meals/meal times, and a good hotel restaurant can make all the difference.
