Problems redeeming free weekends?

I am plt and tried to redeem a hotel stay with one of the free weekends. When I called for rooms in chicago, they yes, yes sir, there are rooms available. When I said that I wanted to use the cert, they said, no sir, there are no rooms available.

Now, how does marriott justify giving out free weekend certs when it doesn't allow you to redeem them? How can I get help?

I said to the CSR: I've stayed with you 75+ nights and been pretty loyal, I'm pretty disappointed. He said "well at least we only failed you once, I'd say that's a pretty good ratio." What kind of a response is this?

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm already started at staying at *wood, now I guess I'll be there 100% of the time.

I've had the same problem w/ Marriott. I'm all *wood now. Maybe I'll figure out how to use the points I've accumulated w/ Marriott.

OK, problem resolved.

I would suggest next time...just book the room through the Marriott web site. There is a new box that let's you utilize free certificates. I just booked the Pittsburgh Marriott yesterday with this very convenient option.

I've had pretty good luck using the W14's. I used two during JazzFest in New Orleans and will use two more this weekend in SAV.

Additionally, I plan on using more(already have award reservation at the Ren Madison) for two nights during the upcoming SEA Doo.

No problem using the certs -- made reservations at the Anaheim Marriott (across the street from Disneyland) for mid-June.

Was able to use mine on first choice of dates (August) and location ( downtown SF) with no problems.
Marriott reward redemptions have never been a problem. Have gotten first choice of dates in London (twice) and Cairo.
