713 cancellation

OK, last question for the week.

I recently used my 713 airfare award for a trip to carribean. Marriott transferred 60k miles to AA.

If I had lied to Marriott and told them I was going to Europe, would they have transferred 120k points to AA instead? If so, can I tell them I have made new travel plans to Europe and want an extra 60k?

There's nothing you can do now, so the question is moot, plus the award can no longer be claimed. The awards that replace the 713/714/etc are all have fixed number of miles associated with them now.

Had you known then, what you have learned now, yes, you could have gotten more miles without lying.

Well, I still have the 7-night hotel certificate from the 713 award. It has a Aug 2002 expiration.

Yes you do (August? ok.) and you can use it until August, but you claimed the award itself (the travel package, which included the miles, a phone card a hertz discount coupon and the hotel award certificate) before the deadline of July 31st. It's a done deal. You can use it or redeposit it for a small fee and get 50k MR points back.

Incidentally, welcome to Flyertalk. If you want information about the 713, I'd suggest you take the time to read through the wealth of information in older posts in this forum.

I would absolutely call them and ask for the additional 60k (it can't hurt to ask!). Just say that you were planning on using the award to fly to London and can't see how you can get there with only 60k for two people.
