A New Low?

Checked in to the Chicago Downtown Marriott last night. Smallest room I've ever been in at a Marriott (smallest bathroom too!). Closet doesn't close. Freezing cold (40 degrees and below overnight). Hair on the bed. Hair in the shower.

Tonight I do have a space heater. They changed the sheets after I found stains on the fresh (???) set. Staff is great - concierge staff wonderful. Could they make this hotel any worse? I will never stay here again. About 1/3 of the room size at the Marriott Marquis in NY. Awful, simply awful. Great staff, horrible property.

Anyone else have this problem?

Bummer! Our experience there (Sept 2000) was hardly stellar but not that bad. We were about 4 doors down from the Lounge, and although the room was nothing special, it wasn't horrible. And yes, many of the staff were very good, but overall it would be low on my list of properties I'd go back to.
Can't you get them to change your room? Like maybe to the Renaissance, of which I hear good reports? Anyway, good luck!

Last year I made a reservation at the Chicago Marriott for two persons, two beds. Prior to doing business in Chicago, I was visiting family in Milwaukee and asked my 17 year old cousin if he wanted to spend a day in the big city while I conducted business. We checked in around midnight and when we got to the room we saw that the receptionist had given us a room with one king bed. Now, I think I look every bit of my 43 years and he certainly looked his 17. What in the world could she have been thinking (or was she thinking at all)? We changed to a room with 2 beds and yes, the rooms there are tiny. My sister just stayed at the Ren and loved it so I'll try that next time. I have no loyalty at all to that ugly, impersonal Chicago Marriott. And for years the staff there has always been surly and inefficient.

Is this the Marriott on Michigan Avenue? I was thinking of staying there on an upcoming trip... maybe I should just head back to The Drake, what a great hotel!

Stick to the Drake BWI...or the Renaissance. The Michigan Avenue Marriott is overpriced and ridiculous. I have stayed there twice and NEVER AGAIN! Motel 6 has better accommodations. This property insults the high standards of a Marriott...unless you like paying $300 a night for a crackerbox.

I believe that Marriott is owned by the AMA, which is just down the street. Now you know, what they think of Drs!
