I noticed that the Marriott website is silent about elite compensation for not getting the bed you reserved at Ritz Carlton properties. I've got a stay coming up tomorrow, and although I have a confirmation that shows I reserved a king bed, the website today is showing my bed selection as "Sold Out/Not Guaranteed" -- do I have any recourse at checkin if they try to give me two doubles?

-1 (assuming the RC in question is within US/Canada)
Per URG, which includes RC props, When making a reservation, be sure to note both your Marriott Rewards membership number and room/bed preferences. At locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, we'll always honor your bed type request.

In addition to URG's I think you'll find the guaranteed bed choice listed in your reservation, ie, as follows:
Preferences Summary
Guaranteed:
1 King Bed
Non-Smoking Room
Preferences Summary
Guaranteed:
1 King Bed
Non-Smoking Room
I was under the impression that the URG is complete separate from the Guaranteed Room Type benefit, as they are called out separately in the terms and have different compensation levels. The URG calls out RCs, but the Guaranteed Room Type does not. Again, I would just call to get a clear answer before heading to the hotel uninformed.

That is interesting. I wonder what you get if your reservation is honored but your room type is not, as the compensation amount for the Guaranteed Room Type for the RC is not listed (which I guess is why the OP posted the original question to begin with
). Sorry I couldn't be of more help OP!

That's ok! I just checked my res again and it still says the same thing "sold out/not guaranteed". I emailed the pre-arrival contact yesterday about the bed type and received a response saying they would notify the front desk manager...we'll see what happens. I'll let you guys know after I check in.

Another interesting point: I just did a mock booking at an RC without entering my membership number and see "Guaranteed: 1 King Bed". So it seems that this isn't even a membership benefit, but actually applies to the RC brand (or maybe specific hotels?). Please do let us know what happens. Thanks!

So upon arrival I was given the king bed that I requested. It was a non-issue and it wasn't even discussed. According to the front desk, the hotel is sold out this week - so I don't know if my status or email helped the situation, but either way it worked out.
As an aside, I returned to my room this evening to find an extensive fruit basket and a bottle of Fiji. Nice touch. ^
