Where are the PointSavers?

Gee, it's now past September 30, and still no new PointSavers posted on the web site.

Are these offered only in the summer, or will new ones show up evenutally (based on past experience)?

I have same question. I e-mailed that question to customer care earlier this week, still no response. I think Marriott is getting sloppy as it continues its rapid growth. Folks in Salt Lake don't know either.

I e-mailed a similar question and got the following bad news:

Dear Mr. Schobel:

Thank you for contacting Marriott Rewards with your inquiry.

In regards to the Point Saver Awards, I need to make you aware that they have been put on hold. Due to some program updates they will not be offered again until possibly the end of November or December.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

If I can be of further assistance please let me know.

Sincerely,

I received the same message, word-for-word. You'd think that they could put a message on the web site itself instead of putting us through the hassle of waiting for a rubber-stamped response.

Well, I wrote back to customer relations (via the web site email link) and received this response:

[QUOTE:]

Subject: RE: Customer Service Request, Where are the point savers?

Thank you very much, for your response.

In regards to your inquiry, if we had the point saver information, too
update the system with, we would absolutely post it on our web-site.
Unfortunately, at this time we are not aware as to when or even if, there
will be "Fall/Winter point savers".

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may present. Please let us
know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

FYI: Rumor has it, if and when they become available, they may be something
that is only offered, to "Platinum Elite" members, such as yourself! But,
as of yet, nothing is confirmed.

[END QUOTE.]

This is interesting. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Marriott get stingier with their benefits, after they generously extended blanket benefits to stays at lower-priced properties.

It's most interesting to me that I received not only a prompt response to my question, but inside information, as well!

Wow, that IS interesting. Finally a good reason to stay Platinum, rather than Gold. The Plat Box never motivated me! And the additional 5% on Marriott Rewards is better than nothing, but not enough by itself.

News bulletin (unsolicited):

Dear Mr. Schobel:

Thank you for contacting Marriott Rewards with your inquiry.

I am happy to advise you that we have received some updated information regarding the point saver awards. As of 10/15/00 the internet should be updated with the fall point saver awards. At this point we show that you will be able to request these new awards starting on 10/15/00, and they will
be valid until 12/31/00.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

If I can be of further assistance please let me know.

No fair, doc! I dilligently searched for past postings on this subject - but not a whole YEAR back!

This just confirms what I already suspected: that you've probably already travelled anywhere I'm heading....

You're right! I am surprised to see destinations in Prague, Bangkok, Franfurt, Tokyo, etc. Cool!

There's probably a window of opportunity for choice dates on these. I was surprised that I had no trouble getting the Residence Inn in Williamsburg, VA right up to Christmas Eve.
