Marriott Gold Status

I know the requirements are 50 nights, and so far in this calender year I have 55. Is Marriott holding back because of when they announced their new Elite program or do I need to call them and ask for my Gold status?

No doubt it will be on it's way, just as soon as they do another processing.

Actually I think you should call them - I had to call them for my card. You should know though that if you are Gold (you can check on the web site) you will get all the benefits with or with out the card. The hotel knows your status from your number.

I think they are going to try and give me the run around though. 25 of these nights were in HKG at a Renaissance (which should not matter, right?) My online acct just says my goal is to renew Silver status. No mention of Gold. Just in 2000 alone I have 53 nights now. If we use a rolling yr from today, I probably have 70+. You think just a quick phone call will straighten this out?

Just got off the phone with a Marriott Cutomer NO-Service Rep. I had 23 nights at a Renaissance in HKG that does not count towards elite status (but did get me Marriott points) because at the time they were not participating with Marriott or something like that. Am I just SOL or what here? I'm thinking I should have stayed at the Sheraton right across the street. Think Marriott will be getting my business when I go back for 14 more days in December?

I would probably ask to speak with a manager, or even write them a letter. I would think that they should give you the status - regardless of what internal technicalities their system uses to determine qualifying nights vs. non-qualifying ones. They should recognize that you aren't trying to get a cheap comp for a few missing Fairfield stays or something - instead, you're one of their most valued customers (and have *actually* stayed the required number of nights).

Having said that, I've always heard that Marriott customer service leaves a bit to be desired.

Hi,

check the Marriott Rewards Website for your status. There you have the actual status. There's a 5 days delay.
It takes Marriott some times for sending the next card. However, the check-in knows your status level, i.e. XI somewhere on the check-in document means Gold-Level.
