Basic Question: Benefits from staying at a Marriott
This is a really basic question. I NEVER stay at Marriot Hotels. Next month we will be staying for one night at the Marriot Longwharf in Boston. What kind of points will I earn? I also have the Marriot Visa card. I am a Marriott Silver... which probably isn't worth much.

The odds are that you will not be upgraded to the concierge level. It doesn't hurt to ask or even call the hotel a couple of days before arrival.
I try to make my reservations via their 800 number (after checking rates on the web). I always have the reservations agent request an upgrade at time of booking. Their requests seem to carry a bit more weight than if I put the request in when booking on the Marriott website.
If you don't get upgraded, ask for access to the concierge lounge. At least, you will get a free breakfast. If the desk person says no, stop by and ask again later when a different staffer is on duty. Note that a lot of lounges close around noon on Friday and reopen on Sunday evening.

Hi Sammy!
Great advice from Bill above - but it is a real longshot!
Regarding points you'll get:
- 1pt/ $ spent
- Double pts for the Marriott Rewards VISA
- Silver % bonus
Enjoy the trip!

Actually, you should earn 15 pts/$
10 pt/$ as a basic member, 2 pts/$ for your silver bonus and 3 pts/$ if you pay with you Marriott Visa.

The Marriott Long Wharf's Concierge Lounge is open on weekends (or at least it was when I stayed there in April). Pretty good food, too.
