Bora Bora?

Hi!

Anyone know how/if you can use Marriott points for Bora Bora? I see there was a JW that was supposed to open in 2005, that never did...any information would be appreciated!

I don't think Marriott has any properties on Bora Bora. Also read that a Ritz Carlton was supposed to open but can't find anything about it. Was looking at it this morning.

I know SPG, HH, IGH, Four Seasons have properties. Does anyone know if Marriott is planning to open anything any time soon?

I'd save your points and wait for Marriott to open up their resort in the Maldives. Sounds like it is going to be an awesome property - hopefully it will be finished by Q4 2012.

Perhaps not all that useful to the OP - but we got married on Bora Bora last year, and the best way to stay there appears to be using IC PC club points to book a room at the Intercontinantal Thalasso resort and spa - using a well-known trick on FT to buy points using C&P one can book an OWB there for US$350 which is a very good price for that hotel

No Mauritius, Seychelles, Maldives, Fiji, French Polynesia etc. Marriott is not very well represented in aspirational vacation spots.

Unfortunately you won't be able to use your Marriott points in French Polynesia - none of the islands have any the Marriott brands. They have Hilton, Intercontinental, Sofit, St Regis, Meridien - but no Marriotts.

Agree 100%.

To a significant extent--it is probably because hotel owners/developers perceive Marriott brands as staid, stodgy, boring etc.

Which it is.

It's one of the main reasons I now give almost all my business to Hilton.

Note that last year, Marriott was sued by two resort properties for not delivering sifficient business--Edition in Honolulu and Eden Roc in South Beach Miami. Both left the Marriott system.

Bora Bora?

The Eden Roc is still a Renaissance. But in general you're right: Marriott needs more resorts!

1. I'd use your Amex and Chase points to book flights to get you there - or even round-the-world flights as the south Pacific makes a nice stop on a trip around the whole world. I would not recommend transferring those points to IC points (if you really want to do this consider using Coupon Connection or PMing people to see if private individuals might do a better deal booking the stay you want in exchange for the use of your Amex pointa than the direct trade via Amex/Chase)

2. rooms at the IC Thalasso can be booked for 50,000 PC points - and this is really an all OWB property (there are some apartments on shore but very few people if any on FT have ever been forced to stay in them)

look in the Intercontinental thread or search with google for more infor on how to get IC points cheaply (hint - you need a minimum of 5K points in your account before my 'trick' method works.

This really is a Priority Club/ICH question, not a Marriott. But a quick answer is that if you have 10K PC points, you can make a reservation for a 20K per night award hotel. The website will show you an offer to use Cash and Points instead of just 20K points. It will say something like 15K + $40 per night and 10K + $70 per night. You make the reservation and PC will make an award reservation (20K points) and will instantly charge your CC for the $70 and add the 10K extra points.

You can then cancel the reservation. PC will NOT refund you the $70. They will deposit the 20K into your account. So basically you just purchased 10K points for $70.

Do that 5 times and you will now have received 50K points for $350. You can find all the details and discussion about that in the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/inter...ad-merged.html thread within the ICH forum.

Well, one way to get a base number of points fast is to get the Priority Club Select VISA card from Chase.

Right now they're offering the card with a bonus of 60,000 points for first use and no annual fee the first year. Click here for full details.

Come to think of it, with 60K points you'd be well on your way to the amount you need anyway.

Edited to add: If you click here you'll see a thread that talks about an offer for 80,000 points for first use, no annual fee the first year, etc. That would put you even further on your way.

I just spoke to PC and asked about how many point would it take to get the OWB and i was told they do not offer OWB for reward nights? How was it that you were able to be the OWB?

They said the only room for reward nights were on the beach?

Please excuse me for asking i am just trying to make this wedding perfect and would love to stay in the OWB

Uh folks - could you take the PC discussion to, oh I don't know, the PC forum?

Cheers.
