Matching status for spouse?
I am going to call Marriott about this but thought I'd see if anyone had any experience with it first.
DH and I live overseas in a Marriott Executive Apartments (3 of the last 4 years) and are at Platinum on his card. I'm always a bit disappointed when I travel in the US without him because I don't have Platinum Status on my account and I miss the perks.
I'm going to call Marriott and see if they will match my status to Platinum but was wondering if anyone had experience with this.
TIA, Gina

They, in a word, won't. Or I should say that it's very unlikely. They will, however, probably offer the "Taste of Gold/Platinum" which gives you temporary elite status as you "prove your loyalty" during a 90 day window (12 nights will get you Gold, 18 Platinum).
That said, perhaps your hubby could share the love and change the apartment to your name after he has earned sufficient nights for Platinum.

Problem with that is you need 3 nights to equal 1 night of status, IIRC. So you would need 225 nights in the Apartment to get Platinum status for the year. Not enough to meet what she is looking for. Personally, I would have the DH make the reservation for you and then call in and say that my wife is checking in for me as I have meetings or some such that will prevent me from checking into the room. This will give you his status while you are traveling.

Heck I made award reservations for friends in New Orleans for jazzfest (even called to give them the name of the people who will be checking in prior to arrival) and they still treated them with platinum benefits and credited my account with the points.
Completely unexpected and appreciated.

Thanks for the info!
OK, as I suspected, but you never know. That's why I posted here to see if anyone else had done this.
Quite often I make the reservation under my husbands card number and I do receive Platinum benefits for the stay. What we don't get then are points for the stay because the credit card is my name, not his. That's what they have told me but I have never actually looked at his account to see if it's true. Next time I do it, I'll check after and post to this thread.

My wife was checking into the Marriott Marquis NYC and mentioned that her husband was Plat. They managed to somehow link the accounts, and she was given Plat benefits for the stay.
