Gold?!?!

I'm silver thanks to the Chase card. I was just looking at my MR account, and I've been changed to gold.

I did get that e-mail about a week ago that other silvers reported receiving, wonder if the two are related?

I'm certainly not complaining! Hmmmm will gold get me any kind of upgrade for my upcoming one night at the Ren New York?

Will I wake up tomorrow and be back to my normal, silver self?

There are reports of people being put on the Taste of Gold challenge without asking for it. While good if you can get the stays in during the challenge period, if you can't and want the challenge in the next 12 months you're screwed. Marriott will politely deny it.

Bingo! Found my way to the promotions that I'm registered fo, and there it is, " Taste of Gold".

There's no way that I'll qualify, have one paid stay and one certificate (non-qualifying) stays coming up.

Thank's for solving my mystery!

You should be good to go, mine begins April 1.

Check your promotions.

I was upgraded to Gold too

And was wondering why as well. Thanks for the tip to check my promotions -"Taste of Gold" was there too, starting Apr 1. I'm surprised Marriott didn't notify us about this.

If any of you were planning on doing the challenge later in the year instead of now (or 4/1) make sure you call to have it removed!!

In the terms and conditions dor the taste of gold it says 6 stays between april 1 and june 30. This differs from the Gold challenge which is 12 nights over 3 months.

True, I did notice the difference. Either way, I doubt that I will be able to take advantage of the upgrade. looked around to see if I could find some cheap mattress runs, but so far, nothing reasonable within a 2 hour drive of me.

I do hope some will be able to make this work for them.

You need to come down to the DC metro area for cheap weekend stays. Three weekends of two stays of one night each should be enough for the promo.

I can do that!

Do you have any suggested properties?

I've landed some very reasonable weekend rates in the IAD/Fair Oaks area in recent weeks. Be sure to check them against some of the third-party online booking agents for LNF potential too. That can make a cheap mattress run even cheaper!

I was surprised to wake up to Gold Monday too and even received my card yesterday. Too bad it doesn't start until April as I had a stay last weekend and have one next week that also won't count! At least I will be Gold for the stay though! Never been Gold before!

Does anyone know if stays using points or certificates count towards stays for this promotion.

Of course not. AFAIK all the nights/stays have to be paid stays.
