I recently got a printout of a reservation confirmation from a hotel, and it appears that they may have used a "print screen" type of function from their terminal. It includes a lot of interesting info, including comments that the hotel has added to my record.

There is one line labelled "SRQ", which has a bunch of codes after it...I recognize X4, but there are many more. Does anyone have a list of what these codes mean?

there's a ton of these codes (just guessing but I believe there are over 150 codes)...if you have any questions on what a specific code means I'll be sure to let you know but in this case X4 refers to your PP status (these are all special request codes but as in the case of X4 they aren't always requests - they are a way of letting the hotel know specific information regarding your reservation)

I called to request an early checkin, on an upcoming reservation.

Got an email that said: "... Marriott will make every effort to accomodate the below requests, however they are not guaranteed. K1; E1; H1."

Thought that was pretty odd.

SRQ's or Special ReQuests, are used in two ways. They can be attached to a room to describe it. and to a profile to describe a preference. For example, room 1001 may have the SRQ's K1 NE LF F1 and the front desk agent knows that it is a King Bed, Near Elevator, Low Floor, First Floor. Depending on how big the hotel is, some SRQ's can mean different things for each hotel. HF and LF for example, at a high rise, the hotel may have coded floors 1-10 as LF, and 20-30 as HF. Whereas a side of the road 3-story Fairfield may have floor 1 coded as LF, and floor 3 coded as HF.
They can also attach to your MR profile as a suggestion to the FD agent, and actually the system is programed to find the best available match for what you have on your profile. If you have HF on your profile, or requested it when you booked, the system will display matches for that SRQ first. the more you have on your profile, the harder it is to find a match, so the FD agent end up compromising on one of the SRQ's. You prefer a high floor but not near the elevator, All the 7-10th floor rooms available are right near it, so they put you on the 6th floor, about 20 doors form the elevator. Still high, but not as high as you want; or the opposite, they stick you on the 10th floor, but your 3 doors form the landing.

Each hotel has standardized and "property use" codes. Standardized are worldwide the same (K1-King Bed, H1-High Floor, E1-Early arrival Requested) and others may be property specific, (MV-Mountian View, OV-Ocean View).

The key is that each property has their own discretion in some cases.

Just to add - (and be clear) this poster is discussing 2 different types of codes

K1, H1, E1 are request codes in the CRS (MARSHA)

NE, LF, F1 are room attributes in the hotel's PMS system

There is a translation table in the PMS system to convert the request codes to match them with the room attributes (room attributes can use the same number/letter combination as the CRS request codes)

Not all request codes are matched with a room attribute (ie X4)

I'm not sure if you were responding to me, but I don't see any "R" on the list that was provided. Does anyone else know what R might stand for? Also does anyone know where to find special request codes for Hyatt, Fairmont or IHG? Thanks
