SRQ's or Special ReQuests, are used in two ways. They can be attached to a room to describe it. and to a profile to describe a preference. For example, room 1001 may have the SRQ's K1 NE LF F1 and the front desk agent knows that it is a King Bed, Near Elevator, Low Floor, First Floor. Depending on how big the hotel is, some SRQ's can mean different things for each hotel. HF and LF for example, at a high rise, the hotel may have coded floors 1-10 as LF, and 20-30 as HF. Whereas a side of the road 3-story Fairfield may have floor 1 coded as LF, and floor 3 coded as HF.
They can also attach to your MR profile as a suggestion to the FD agent, and actually the system is programed to find the best available match for what you have on your profile. If you have HF on your profile, or requested it when you booked, the system will display matches for that SRQ first. the more you have on your profile, the harder it is to find a match, so the FD agent end up compromising on one of the SRQ's. You prefer a high floor but not near the elevator, All the 7-10th floor rooms available are right near it, so they put you on the 6th floor, about 20 doors form the elevator. Still high, but not as high as you want; or the opposite, they stick you on the 10th floor, but your 3 doors form the landing.

Each hotel has standardized and "property use" codes. Standardized are worldwide the same (K1-King Bed, H1-High Floor, E1-Early arrival Requested) and others may be property specific, (MV-Mountian View, OV-Ocean View).

The key is that each property has their own discretion in some cases.
