it seems all the US chain Hotels @ MUC dont offer a free shuttle to/from their so called Airport Hotel locations ( seems they are a bit of a distance from the airport itself)

The Marriot wants 11 euros each way but it does say theres a bus for 2.2 euro, has anyone taken the bus and can you provide where it leaves from and how often does it go.

I have an overnight due to no onward flights until the next day, unless I get lucky and FRA opens up which doesnt look too good for now.

In @ 6:30pm out the next morn @ 11:30am so no time to checkout the city itself and thusly wanting to stay as close to MUC as possible

Given you're getting in at 6:30pm you might want to consider taking the train from the airport to CY City Center, and have a nice meal/stroll in the city & then train it back in the morning.

But if you do stay at airport, supposedly central Freising is only a few minute walk from the hotel so there might be options there. The hotel doesn't have an executive lounge, but you'll get a full breakfast in the morning.

Train:
its 10 euro 1 way and 10.80 roundtrip as long as you start back by 6am, so its 20 euro and its 45 mins to the Central Station so at best Id get into my room by 8:30 ish doubt Id want to go walking anywhere and Id have to start back by 8:00am

Freising seemed like a nice place for a short stroll and can be done even the next morn

I think staying closer to the airport is a better idea, although never in Munich before I doubt its like Frankfurt where 1 hr might be too long to check the city out. (going thru FRA in a couple of weeks with an 8 hr layover and heading to Mainz to walk around but that will be all morning long while MUC will be at night).

Bus:

took me awhile till I figured out how to get that info but its now 2.50 euro alot better then 10 each way , takes 18 mins much better then 46 mins on the train, and seems to run every 20 mins. Whats good is if Im running late I guess I can always pay the 11 euro the Hotel wants for their shuttle to the airport Just cant figure out if the 635 Bus stops by Krankenhaus Hospital but it does to Freising so that should be good enough (hopefully)

and the airport Hotel is a Cat4 so I can use a free cert cat 1-4 too boot, the 2 in the City are Cat 5s

Bus 635 leaves from the airport (easy to find, just follow the signs) every 20 min, here's the schedule: http://is.gd/bKYvJh Takes around 20 min to Freising.

However it does not go to Krankenhaus but to main train station. You can of course change to another bus but I prefer a nice 15 min walk to the hotel: http://is.gd/KNFkcR If you have luggage taxi might be an easier and faster option. Costs around the same as train to Munich and takes 10 min.

Freising is a beautiful little town, highly recommended! I stay there every time I have overnight in MUC. If you have time go to the Weihenstephaner brewery (the oldest in the world!) and have a drink, or just stroll along the main street. If you feel to tired to leave the hotel there's a quite good pool / sauna / spa there.

This has been my usual plan, also.

Thanks slowly for the detailed information. Have often thought about staying at this Marriott but the logistics seemed awkward. Will give this a try next time in Munich. ^

I stay at this hotel but I have always had a rental car.

I normally see people arguing with the staff about having to pay for the shuttle.

Just pay for the shuttle if you want convenience, if not go to the bus or train stop.

No shuttle to the main station. It's more of a hotel in the center of a small town than an airport hotel actually.

You can of course take bus 631 from the train station to Krankenhaus (the same ticket from the airport is valid; Marriott is just besides the hospital) but as I said walking seems easier and faster for me. And you cant get lost as long as you keep the same general direction.

No shuttle to the bus station - it's literally next door. And certainly no shuttle to Freising's train-station, where the bus to the airport departs. We tried the bus-route once, but we could not figure out where and when the Bus to the hotel departs (even being native german speakers) so we opted for a taxi. We had rental cars since... In terms of parking, btw: The hotel charges 8� overnight, but if you pass the hotel and the next traffic light, there is free street parking on the left hand side between 6pm and 8 am...

One more info: if you want MR points make sure to hold onto your receipt. My colleagues and I are at 100% non-credit with the hotel when using LNF rates there...

I usually stay at the Kempinski when I have an early flight out of MUC. It's located right at the terminal and is very clean and efficient. Great breakfast downstairs in the morning, though $$$.

It's easy to take the train into downtown Munich from the terminal for dinner,w sightseeing, etc.- takes about 30 min - and the next morning you can simply walk over to the check-in desk for your flight.

No MR points, of course, but if the flight is early enough, I'm willing to make that sacrifice to save myself a bit of a hassle before I'm fully ready to face the day...

Thanks but there will be no Pts for me anyway , since my plan was to use 1 of the 2 Cat4 certs I earned for the Summer Mega Bonus Promo. And if it was too much of a pain to get there (its not any longer) then I would have done a C&P at the Shearton or use pts for a Hilton

Was toying with spending an extra day or 2 but as it is now I will have 2 checked bags that LH will hold onto since my connecting flight is <24 hrs after arriving and I will be returning from a 2 week visit elsewhere so my goal is to get back ASAP as long as I can get it as an award tkt. Thats why MUC came into play it was the only flight that had any award space on the 1st day I could fly out of where I will be
