EEO Redemption

Quick Question regarding use of EEO certificate:

Is the EEO valid on 'Stay for Breakfast' rate?

it is valid on the rate, but on the 2nd night policy is that you will not get breakfast. I think it is more YMMV..as in some hotels I did, in others, nada.

I actually just booked a package rate, which included breakfast. The Platinum line rep told me I am only entitled to the package benefits for the first night. Rather or not the individual hotel follows that policy is another question.

Is this new.
I thought in the past everyone was getting both nights of there packages.
Even the ones that were $X.XX per night hotel credit.

No, it has been standard policy that the benefits of the package only apply to the paid night, but some properties extend it to both nights. Occasionally, you will find hotels that offer a credit per stay. In that situation, an EEO gets the complete credit.

I've never had a hotel not honor the second night of a stay for breakfast or any other package similar to that when I am using an EEO. Wow, that is news to me, I wonder what hotels are too cheap to give out breakfast on the 2nd night?

I don't know about breakfast, but they usually won't give one for the free night if it is a gift card (gas or shopping) that is given.

AGree 100%. That is why I never book these rates for more than one night, EEO or not. You are paying the PKG rate for all night...but only get the PKG once.

I am not sure that any ARE, but it is the policy that is quoted to you by the reservation agent when you call.

I cannot remember ever paying it, but at least I know I might have to....

valet parking falls into the same category as "free breakfast". as it is not a tangible item being handed to you, when the FD takes off the charge for 2nd night, they don't take away the bennies...for a variety of reasons. (don't check the rate code, don't even know you had it, don't know the rules, don't know how to add it back onto the bill, etc)

So your chances of receiving that type of benefit goes way up....thehuncamunca has the right idea...better for it to be a nice surprise (rather than) expecting it.

fwiw, more than once I have used EEOs on bookings where the publicly available rate was a promo rate that awarded a GC (iirc, the Amazon GC & Visa GC promos).

I've always gotten the promised GC & EEO discount but iirc, only one property, the Boston/Peabody Marriott questioned me. However, that was because they claimed they had never seen an EEO cert & denied it was real.

From the new EEO list, I see, that property is now officially not participating in the EEO offer.

For those public promotions with gift cards, I have only gotten one gift card (paid night only) for an EEO stay of two nights. I am sure it depends on the property, but that has been my experience.

Respecting GCs, I've had it go both ways (either 1 or 2 GCs).

Also, on regular (no breakfast rate) EEO stay I've been given chits for both days breakfasts, just because the CL was closed.

So, I agree that it's all just a crap shoot

Possible Stupid Question

Are you allowed to use these certs more than once?
Example can I use the Marriott EEO on 2 different Marriotts on 2 different weekends or is it a one time use only?
