Not stupid at all. Most people report using theirs more than once. Remember too that you can gift them.

What about using an EEO & Bonus Bucks for a weekend stay?
I used an EEO last weekend for a Fri & Sat night stay, but at checkout was told I couldn't also use the bonus bucks I had from a previous stay.

That is correct, as both promotions state they cannot be used with another promotion, and most properties adhere to those rules. There are exceptions... but most reports indicate they have not been able to use both.
