It says in the documentation that comes with the PP card. It started in 2011 and was renewed for 2012!

that's how I took care of it at the Vegas JW. Actually, they printed something out showing me as a PP that I gave to the server.
I even used the old card on 2 Jan and was given the discount.

... also still waiting for my PP amenity kit. These things happen, but I wish that they'd get them out just a bit faster. Or extend the food/golf discount cards to 28 Feb expiry instead of 31 Dec expiration date. (Hint for Marriott corporate).

Mine arrived in a box in the mail yesterday.

Along with the card and brochure on benefits was a very nice gift -- a solar battery charger for computers and cell phones (and maybe other doodads) in a nice carrying bag with drawstring. Just right to tuck into a carry-on.

Thanks, Marriott! ^

I have last year's golf card and don't see an expiration date on it. I may see if I am able to use it next week at Los Suenos.

I just looked at the card in my passport case and it's 2 years ago's. I never got a card last year. And I still haven't gotten this year's card (and solar charger, yippie :-)...

I could have used that 20% discount, oh, about 150 times last year... Wait a minute, all those meals were reimbursed so I would have just cost myself points....

+1. This is my first year as PP. Maybe you have to be a multi-year PP to get a solar charger gift.

Are there any other PPs out there that still haven't seen their 2011 packages?

Call Marriott Rewards and ask about your package. I got mine around March 1 (it was ordered on January 9), and I was told that Marriott was running behind schedule due to Midwest snowstorms in January that shut down the facility processing the packages for a few weeks. They supposedly ordered a second package for me around February 24. I'm going to see if the second one comes.

I got mine yesterday but didn't get the gift. I am a new PP this year so looks like the previous poster might be right about it being for multiyear people only. Maybe the concierge can shed some light.

Solar charger is a great "idea" - was pretty excited to get mine. In practice > hasn't worked yet. I have to 'charge it' from my computer and then transfer the juice.

So it hasn't yet become solar - more like an iGo battery.

So don't lose too much sleep over it yet my friends

Got my charger and it's my first year PP, so that's not the issue. In the manual it's says something like 60 minutes from your PC and 30 hours in sunlight. Not the actual numbers, but the order of magnitude, so don't rely on nature
