I am quite sure that most of you may not agree with me but I think..
1. Cell phone plans are too cheap. The unlimited or thousands of minutes a month free calls encourage needless chatter. If these airport/lounge/hotel calls are really business calls, the world economy would be booming and sales of goods and services would be great! People talk over cell phones because it is cheap and they don't "pay" for the calls. 2. In general, people feel different when they are in a public place and forget acceptable behavior. The guy who puts his feet up (bare or with shoes) on the table in a lounge or on the wall in an airline cabin, wouldn't perhaps do it in front Company in his own home. 3. Same is true for drinks-if the drinks are free or if the business "pays" people tend to drink more even if they feel that too many drinks are bad for them. "Social drinking" seems an acceptable alternative to no-drinking; however, it is a poorly defined term. 4. Public skyping is a boorish behavior. I don't want to appear in someone else's camera because I happen to be walking by! 5. I also don't like the network of tangled electrical cords in busy lounges. I usually go to the charging station or a remote corner or most often don't even charge my gadgets. But I hardly ever use my cell phone although I could pretend to be just as busy as the next person. 6. I dread the day when airline would allow video chatting during flight. Already more and more people are looking at weird things during the flight. |

Well done to the Exec Lounge host
Staying at West India Quay Marriott at the moment. Dropped into the lounge this evening for a snack. Minding own business when another guest, who has been here at least as long as us, drops in for a PLATEFUL in her bathrobe and flip flops (nothing under bathrobe). Not appropriate, butthink nothing more. Hour later Mr HP comes with me and who is just popping up again? This time we spot the hostess speaking to the offender (still in bathrobe andf flip flops). Hostess then proceeds to apologise to us and other guests and explains she has politely askedthe guest NOT to attend in her bathrobe.
Well done to her, we congratulated her as did others. Really, how long does it take to slip on a pair of trousers and top if you really want to go and top up on food (especially as you draw attention to the fact that you are hauling a large plate of goodies and drinks with you!)? Day before she was using said lounge to dance and sing in front of the window.Believe me it was not pretty sight ... |
Open on Weekends?
Just curious, now that I have the dress code down, is the JW DC CL open on the weekends?

Cheers. |
A robe in the CL should always come below the knees and better midway to the ankles to be within other guests sphere of regulation comments!
But the guy was showing a nice firm butt and may have been proud enough to use that for possible comments rather then the generic ones taking place on this string! :D He most likely had a nice set of abs or 8 pack, also, as they say at charbucks. :D Could pay off in the long run through out the day/stay! :D:D |

Since this thread has been brought back close to the top...
I still feel guilty for going into the CL at the Chateau Champlain in Montreal last summer while wearing a short skirt and flip-flops. However, my father and I stayed at the Stamford Marriott on Tuesday night, and we worked out in the morning. He went up to get me something to eat before we worked out (coffee and pineapple - tasty and acidic!) while wearing clean gym clothes, we worked out and drank the water in the hotel gym, then we showered and went up to the concierge lounge for the rest of our breakfast. |
I often just throw on a pair of athletic shorts and a t-shirt in the mornings to grab breakfast from the lounge in the mornings when I actually wake up in time, but I also take it back to my room so don't actually have to interact with any of the lot of you ;):D:p. In seriousness though, only at a maximum 5% of the time do I actually see another living soul other than perhaps the lounge attendant, so I'm sure my "low class" attire does not and cannot offend any of you.

Why does it bother you?
How does it affect you? I think suit and ties should be banned! It is much worse for families with young kids who are running around, playing games on the computer. They should be banned! |
