Late Checkout Time?
When requesting a late checkout, what time is usually permitted for a latest departure time?
I apologize if this question was previously answered; I couldn't find it after searching through the forum. (Please let me know if there is an existing thread that I should look at!)
Thanks again to all of you!

IME, a couple hours past normal check-out time is usually not an issue. The LAX FS and Ren have been very accommodating to me in the past, but they often have flight crews that won't be checking in until very late and their housekeeping departments seem to work shifts, so they're already cleaning more around the clock.
Sometimes I need to do Webinars late in the afternoon and will ask to keep the room pretty late into the afternoon. IME, if I'm keeping the room past 3:00pm, most hotels either charge for a half-night or let me know they are not charging because occupancy is low that night so the room can sit uncleaned for a night.
Hope that helps.

If you are platinum, it is guaranteed 4 pm without discussion at all Marriott (including Ritz)
Otherwise, depends on whether they need your room. You can usually get noon

Did you find something in the T&C that I'm missing?

There is no guarantee with Marriott for late checkout. I can usually get 2 hours past regular checkout at non-resort properties (and I have been able to get this as a gold/platinum member). Sometimes, I will only get an hour if they have a full house the following night. I have on occasion gotten up to 3 hours extra when needed. I believe properties give late checkout priority to frequent guests at their property and higher elite members since I have heard a request for a late checkout change from a no to a yes once they saw that I was platinum/PP.
My experiences at resort properties is much more limited since I do not stay at them that much, but I have found it much harder to get a late checkout here. At the Marriott Orlando World Center, checkout is 11 am, and I had to beg for a 30 minute extension.

Would be nice if this is true (if it is, please cite your source), but as I don't believe it is, we could hope that Marriott considers matching Starwood in this area in 2011 as a product enhancement for upper elites, perhaps? Thanks, Santa!

If and when I requested for 4pm, it was always granted.

I just checked the SOP database....the policy only states "Priority Late Checkout", it does not specify a time - a number of factors will enter into what time a hotel will grant such as the number of arrivals on a given day, number of elite requests for late checkouts etc
