Lounging in the lounge
at renaissance stanford court in san francisco. at breakfast this morning, i saw a middle aged woman in her bathrobe, bare feet, with her feet on the coffee table eating breakfast. i couldn't believe it. really?
another gentleman sat down not too far from her and realized what he was seeing and just shook his head. do we need to put up signs in the lounge that say "please bother to wear clothes to the lounge"?
i always thought it was somewhat silly for all the airline clubs and lounges to have a dress code requiring at least business casual....

Did either you or the other guy tell her that her behavior was inappropriate? If not, don't be surprised if you see her again doing the same thing. Your silence is tacit approval.

my guess is its a law that shoes are required; are you sure she didn't have slippers/shoes on the floor under the table.. if not then the CL personnel had a duty to kick her out till she got some footwear
if she did have slippers/shoes then they could probably conjur some health code to get her feet off the coffee table
without a dress code, there may not be much anyone can do about the bath robe

I had the same experience at the Renaissance Chancery Court this summer. Older man with no shoes on. I only wish he had put a bathrobe on over the sweaty, clingy, way too small shorts he had on.
If they are going to kick out everyone under 16, then they should at least make the adults adhere to some minimal level of decorum.

Casual attire doesn't bother me, but bare feet and walking around in a bathrobe (presumably with little on underneath) is downright gross.
I would imagine that CA or SF has a "shirts & shoes" law for restaurants. Seems like that should apply at a hotel lounge since it's essentially the same thing. (I mean, it's not really a "private club"...)

I saw this at Grosvenor House earlier this year & DID say something to the ahem, gentleman. Basically told him it was a public venue (even if limited to folk on the exec lounge or elites) & his attire was inappropriate, and that he was also giving the rest of us Americans a bad image w/ his belief that he could bounce around in his robe. This wasn't the no-tell, motel for crikey's sake.
Cheers.

She was probably just a professional lady looking to increase the profit margin with a little early morning activity.

He ended up leaving the lounge. I think I did a write-up on the entire situation in another lounge thread. The attendent had tried diplomatically to get him to leave/change, but he said 'I'm going to be here for a couple of weeks & I like to be comfortable' or something like that. Don't have time right now, but will try to find the write-up scenario. I remember being glad his bathrobe hadn't fallen open
But yes, it does boggle my mind that people would do something like that.
Cheers.

I was working in the lounge at the SIN Marriott one afternoon, and a family of four (bloody loud too) popped into the lounge in their dripping wet swimsuits. The lounge attendant was ever so polite, first offering to have drinks sent to their room, but they didn't get the hint and barged in anyway.
