How long for nights to post from Marriott Visa?
I never thought it would make a big deal when the perk came down the pike from the VISA that gives (1) night for every $3,000 charged on the VISA.
Now I find myself counting on that a great deal and very thankful for the new(ish) perk.
But now that I am watching for the days, it's like watching boiling water. How long does it take for the actual days to post to the MR account?
I pay my VISA off every month the DAY after it closes (yes, I know...I can't help myself and having been doing this for years). So I don't actually know when my bill is required to be paid because it is paid the very first day I can do so online. I paid just over $7k on September 14th (maybe 15th or 16th because Chase was having a few website issues and was down for a couple of days)....and that should give me 2 days toward my status.
Does anyone know when the days will appear? I can't even imagine who would be able to tell me on the phone (huh? days? what are you talking about?).
Also, I attempted the "search" feature but I couldn't find anything that discussed the MR Visa and days perk.
Thanks.

I don't know...
I don't know the answer as I don't pay attention but why does it matter? Just curious if I am missing something.

Think you're missing the part where she needs the free nights
I don't see where she says she is getting "free nights." She is asking about her elite nights. I just don't see why it matters that much when they arrive in your MR account.

Didn't think I needed to explain why....
Well, it does matter. It is getting close to the end of the Calendar Year. I am very close between Gold and Platinum. If I'm really going to step up my efforts in an attempt to achieve Platinum based on the nights I earn via the MR Visa, I need to have a couple questions answered.
The first question I had was if I charged $3,000 on December 31, 2010 (and that is actually when the charge posted), would that count toward THIS calendar year (because it wouldn't show up as due until 2011 because my account closes around the 13th of every month). She said it was a very good question and she had to get back to me. She did as promised and said she found out that because it would not show up as due until 2011, even though the charge was made in 2010, it would NOT count toward status in 2010. Good to know as I am not going to make a rather large 16 night Bejing cruise payment earlier than I had wanted in order to get the days. I'm going to be so close to Platinum that I want to do everything I can to watch this. I can't tell you how many threads I read where people are so bummed or irritated with not asking more questions or searching out answers to preclude some of these "oops...darn, I wish I knew that" situations.
I have not been watching this at all (when days post from MR). I can't even seem to find out when they have posted in the past--not even from my MR account history.
I want to know when these post and literally watch to determine if I will make it under the wire and since it is not something I had been doing (didn't are before--now I do), I merely wanted to know how long it typically takes to post so I can monitor how much more I need to spend and when I need to spend it by.
I thought it was a bit odd that I have not seen the days and I thought it would be a relatively quick question/answer so I don't bother calling VISA/Marriott until I have to.

I just assume that they post the same time the points from my MR Visa post. Two days after my closing date. I also assume that the elite status credit nights earned would count toward the year in which they posted to your account. Seems like simple logic to me, but then again I could be wrong.
When you figure it out please let us know.

You're probably right....

Yes, that makes sense. I can't remember the last time I waited to pay a bill until it was actually "due." Bad habit I suppose...but I can't help myself and have to pay it on the day I am physically allowed.
I am not sure when my bill is actually due...but I think that makes sense and I'll watch for that. That will probably be my answer.
Thanks.

Sign up for Chase automatic payments and then it will be paid in full on the due date every month, no having to check, no worries. I have been using it for MR and UA Visa accounts since it was introduced a few years ago. It works great, plus if you do any returns after your closing date but before your payment due date, your automatic payment is reduced by the amount of those returns.

My CC closes on the 19th each month and payment is due on the 16th of the following month. I have it set up to auto pay on the due date. I get credit for my nights around the 10th-12th each month. The date is different each month.

Was this a targeted offer. I spend over 5000 a month on my card and don't get a free night for every 3000 spent.

Not a free night. It is a 1 Elite Night Credit for every $3000 spent on MR Visa cards. No it was not targeted: https://www.chase.com/online/Card-Se...ott-reward.htm
