Megbonus certificate use

Has anyone else tried to use their summer Megabonus certs yet? I have been waiting for them to reach my account so we could stay at Portsmouth Marriott in the UK. I booked three nights on points a while back and am just short of the required points. Mr HP has changed his plans and we now only want two nights (to add on to a weekend stay of three nights), but we can't book using the certs as they work in the same way as points and there is no availability for the two nights! Bizarrely one can still book for 3 nights which covers the same period as the two.

I am exasperated at the moment as we have been attempting to book a week at various hotels for our autumn break and keep coming up against a brick wall. We are Plats thruough leisure stays and we can't afford some of the astronomical weekday rates, so we have no option to pay for the nights, but we have the leave booked and we have three nights booked for the weekend on the 20% off promotion.

I have never had such difficulty trying to book a week away!!!

Spot the deliberate mistake (Megbonus). Creative booking has rectified the situation. The certificates will work well for me as we are using one for Portsmouth Marriott which although only Cat 4 is 155 a night in the week. The other will just make a small saving at Bristol in October.

All in all i think I did well out of the last promotion as two Cat 4 certs were worth as much as 40,000 points BUT I only stayed 12 nights in total and I guess I could have done it only 6 ...

So how did you manage to book a reservation using the certificate? I havent figured it out yet. I have 2 certificates for 2 free nights (cat 4). When I try and make a reservation the system wants to charge against my points which it cant because I dont have 40k points yet and it shows no availability for "marriot rewards offers".

I had to call (used the Platinum Line) to make my reservation for the two category 4 nights.

I "thought" there was something in the terms that they were NOT able to be booked online.

i booked the reservation using points before the promotion ended. wafter the promo end date, i called CS, asked for the certs, then asked them to apply the certs to my exisiting MR reservation. NO problems.
