Ten (10) Elite Nights are given for each meeting held in a participating hotel under the "Rewarding Events" program. See below for non-participating brands. Information about the Rewarding Events program may be found at https://www.marriott.com/meeting-eve...els/rewards.mi
The 10 elite nights per meeting are independent of any hotel rooms booked in conjunction with the meeting. In fact, no hotel rooms have to be booked as part of the meeting in order to receive credit for 10 elite nights.
Although the Rewarding Events webpage refers to room nights for meeting participants, the most important section is the one that states 10 Elite Nights, regardless if you or your guest is paying for it
In general, a written contract is required (or should be obtained). In many cases, the meeting is booked through a central Marriott group sales office instead of directly with a hotel. If booked through a central Marriott group sales office, there is a three-page contract that makes reference to the Rewarding Events program on page 2 of the agreement. A MR member number should be included in this area of the contract by the group sales office.
FAQs:
Q: What brands participate in the Rewarding Events program?
A: AC Hotels by Marriott, Aloft, Autograph Collection, Courtyard by Marriott, Delta Hotels by Marriott, EDITION, Element, Fairfield by Marriott, Four Points by Marriott, Gaylord Hotels, JW Marriott, LeMéridien, The Luxury Collection, Marriott Hotels, Marriott Vacation Club, Moxy Hotels, Protea Hotels by Marriott, Renaissance Hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, Sheraton, St. Regis, Tribute Portfolio, W Hotels, & Westin.
Residence Inn by Marriott, TownePlace Suites, & Marriott Executive Apartments do not participate in the program.
Q: How do I find a hotel that participates?
A: Click on the link to the Rewarding Events page and then in the "Plan" section of the page click on the "Find a Hotel" box. Enter the city you'd like to have your meeting in, purpose of event (Business) and then check the "I need meeting/event space" box. Enter the size of your meeting (2 attendees should work) and then click the "Find" box. Leave the start date and end date blank. A list of potential hotels will be shown. The smallest meeting room is not usually shown online --- you may need to call each hotel to find out which one has a boardroom or other small meeting room. Once you've found a small meeting room, then request a quote online.
Q: How quickly will Marriott respond with a quote?
A: Usually within a day or two --- and usually via email. The email should contain a telephone number of the group sales contact. Give them a call and tell them you'd like to follow up on the quote and you're interested in booking the smallest room available for a 2 person meeting for an hour. If they quote a price that's higher than you want to pay, ask them if they can get approval for a lower priced meeting (e.g., a recent quote was for $75 for an 8 hour use of a CY boardroom). They accepted a counter of $50 for a one-hour meeting in the room (plus service charge plus local sales tax). Urban hotels may charge significantly higher rates for meeting space than a smaller, less congested city.
Q: Is a contract required?
A: The terms of the program suggest "yes" --- although there are reports that 10 elite nights have been granted without contracts. A best practice would be to obtain a contract.
Q: How long do points and EQNs take to post after the event is over?
A: Generally, this takes 3+ business days. According to Marriott, it can take 15 business days. If you do not see anything post after 15 business days, contact the hotel before contacting Marriott customer support. The hotel has to be the one to post it.
You will get an e-mail with a subject line Your Rewarding Events Award has Posted: EVENT NAME
Q: Will the hotel know what I am talking about when I say points and elite night credits?
A: Probably not. They may know about the rewarding events points being 3x per dollar spent, but not always. Usually they know of only the Marriott system (Group Posting Tool) where they input how much you spent and when. This is done after the event and is usually authorized by the sales or general manager.
Q: The contract doesn't say anything about points, will I still earn them?
A: YMMV but so far all the electronic contracts from the website state it, but some fail to read it. The paper contracts usually talk about points, but some reports that they don't, but still post. Remember this is a Marriott Rewards benefit that the hotels don't seem to be footing the bill for.

Be cautious. There are two different processes in play here. One is the basic process that is used to post room stays and does not trigger the RE nights and there is the Group Posting Tool used to post meetings and block room contracts. There is no contract for the first whereas there "should be" (some report not having) one for their meetings. Many property staff are not aware of the different programs, I believe because the front desk is not the normal contact point when dealing with meetings. If the property meeting staff is clueless, ask them to contact their MR support team or reach out yourself to MR asking them for help.

Sorry, but that's not clear. As stated, all we have at this time is rumor and internet interpretation. MPG (also a SWAG) has not released anything to support or deny, so all we can do is hurry up and wait. As I have been preaching, READ all the released information and make your decisions based upon facts. Everyone has their own agenda/needs and there is no one answer for all.
It’s clear to me from the new Marriott loyalty program website page that was referenced earlier:
https://members.marriott.com/rewarding-events/
That language is different from the current language Marriott uses with rewarding events. This new languages talks about earning 10 elite nights from your first meeting; the old language doesn’t mention anything about first meeting. Here is the old website language:
https://www.marriott.com/meeting-eve...els/rewards.mi
Again, everyone sees what they want to see...except in this case I’d actually benefit more from the old language and not this new language. Regardless that the old language benefits me more, I think it’s pretty clear that Marriott plans to limit the 10 elite night credit to the first meeting/event only.

All that it says in what you quoted that someone gets ten nights with the first meeting. It says nothing about the second, third, fourth, or any other meeting, nor does the wording limit this to only the first meeting. While your interpretation may be that this means something it does not say, that is quite different than Marriott confirming what they do not say.
Marriott has been touting that one gets silver with the first meeting for at least eight years, changing the exact wording several times. While they may be doing away with ten nights for subsequent meetings, they may just as easily have just slightly changed the wording on a long running marketing point. We do not know.

as RogerD408 said above, cost.
i continue to deal with the property i am (despite the points not having posted yet) because i'm getting a great rate on my half hour meetings...if i wanted to spend $100 a pop i could easily go elsewhere. it's a risk, and surely a hassle, but one i'm willing to take at the price.
not sure how it'd work with overlapping meetings, but i'm hoping to add some more daily meetings through july, if anything from the first set actually posts to my account.

Perhaps it's 100% luck, but it took me less than an hour to find multiple hotels with $75 ish rates that are bookable online. One has more than once reliably posted the 10 elite nights 2-3 days after the supposed meeting.

With all due respect, a bunch of $50 or less meetings do little good if they don't actually post properly because you've overwhelmed a single hotel. By the time it's been sorted out and you feel confident enough to scale it up, Marriott could have changed the rules.

The language has changed. You just seem unwilling to admit that simple fact. I’m not sure what the challenge is here. This melodrama seems completely unnecessary.

I provided links previously with the wording for the new site and the old site. The language is different, and the new site has the only language mentioning the “first meeting” getting the 10 elite nights credit.

My last meeting was yesterday, Platinum in the bag as of a few hours ago. $33 including tax, for my final 10 elite nights, and yes I showed up, drank the coffee, enjoyed the plate of biscuits, and sat for half an hour watching a couple of TED talks my wife had emailed to me. I might be back in 2019 if this one's still alive then
My $0.02 - do your own research. Talk to the hotels. Stop hoping to score a(nother) shortcut by booking 8 meetings back to back at one property, this whole thing is already one incredible shortcut

This smacks so much like the debate over 4pm check out where they say subject to availability at resort/conference facilities. Too many people, especially properties, stopped reading at "subject to availability" meaning all properties and others that claimed just because they had meeting rooms or close to a convention center, they were a conference property.
The statement "Get 10 Elite Qualifying Nights when you book your first meeting — and achieve Silver Elite status automatically." is accurate but says nothing about subsequent meetings. And I notice the only item that garners an additional night is booking 20+ guest rooms. Only going by their history of posting the 10 nights for every meeting leaves one to expect that to continue. Right now we only have guesses as to what is going to happen. I'm hoping it's on someone's list to clear up at or before rollout.

The language has changed, which I have pointed out over and over, but it still says nothing about anything but the first meeting. It does not say you do not get credit for other meetings. You are interpreting it to mean only the first meeting, which it does not say, and to indicate it means no credit for other meetings, which it does not say.

I've gotten the fastest posting from Fairfield Inn Tustin (at Edinger & the 55 in the OC) where couple hour meeting on certain dates can be $125 or so (use the Reserve button and then trim the time down to 4 hours or less to see the lower rate).

Quite. All credit to the OP, but perhaps this thread ought to have been coded like the mileage run deals trick-it one.

Yes. Until the new T&Cs are out or Marriott makes an announcement it is all reading tea leaves. There is a big difference between thinking something could happen and the certainty being posted on FT that something is definitely going to be happening based on nothing more than reading tea leaves. As I have said many times, I would get any meetings out of the way by Aug 1 to be on the safe side, but it is troubling to see so many not grasping the difference between thinking there is a chance something could happen versus getting tangled up in the internet grapevine.
