Points redposit after use of e-cert?

Points redposit after use of e-cert?
I will get a one night category 1-5 cert with my marriott visa when I hit my anniversary date in a few months. I'd like to make a reservation now, though, to ensure availability, but don't want to use points. Suppose I make a rewards reservation now at a cat 5 for December? Once I get the visa cert desposited to my account, can I change the reservation over to the cert and have the 25k points redeposited to my account?

Just make the res by phone and tell them you will use a cert that will be available later. Then when the cert is in your account, call back and have it linked to the res. I just did exactly that for a res next April around the holidays. I expect to have the cert before New Year's and will have it applied then. No points were take out of my account.
