Lifetime Levels reduced?
Hi All,
Long time reader, first time poster.
With the recent Megabonuses and all, I've been getting pretty close to that magical 3,000,000 point level when I become lifetime platinum (i.e., when I never have to stay in a Marriott again
)
Anyway, I emailed Marriott the other day to see what my lifetime point total had hit and they told me that Lifetime Platinum was only 2mm points now. Can anyone confirm this? They also told me that I'd been a Marriott Rewards member for 11 years and had joined in 1998, so maybe the point change was wrong as well.

Correct. Goals have changed.
12 years, 1000 night and 2,000,000 points is correct for Platinum. It used to be 3,000,000 points.
While 1000 nights is still the same, it is much easier to achieve now that CC bonus nights and rollover nights are new perks.

Welcome to FT.
Yes, the points requirements were reduced. You can find a discussion around that in the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...te-status.html thread starting around post #65.

While I think that Marriott recently added listing lifetime nights online, you still need to call MR to find out your total program points.

Now I'm ticked off...
I find this out right as I pass 2.9 million points! I was SO looking forward to hitting 3mm later this year.

how do you know your years in the program; is it just Marriott rewards? does the old Marriott Marquis count? how about even before that when I think I started in the Courtyard Club?
in the end I rolled from one to other

I thought that at one time Marriott put a "member since XXX" on your elite card. Unfortunately, when I looked at my latest card, I didn't see it on there.
If you call MR, they can quickly tell you your join date. As for what they use as your "join date", I joined the old Courtyard Club program back in 1993, but Marriott lists my join date as 1995 (which I do believe is when I joined the Marriott Marquis program.)
[Edited to Add] I just found one of my old Marriott Club Marquis cards and Marriott put the "Member since" on that card. I knew I had seen it listed somewhere.
