Bonus Points for adding authorized user to Chase MR visa

I just received an snail mail offer from Chase to get bonus points by adding an authorized user to my credit card account. I searched the forum but didn't see this offer mentioned anywhere:

"Let your friends and family help you maximize the Staying Power of your Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card by adding them as an authorized user. Earn 2,010 bonus points when you add one or more authorized users between April 1 and May 15, 2010."

Interesting - I haven't gotten any such offer, but this does seem to be a current Chase theme. There are several other threads popping up here on FT regarding similar bonus offers on different credit cards:

Does that appear to be targeted? If not, I will add my wife. She currently uses the MP plat for everything as MP miles are worth more than MR points on a 1:1 basis. I would certainly add her though for a bonus.

Upon further review the offer does appear to be targeted: "This promotional offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account ending in the last 4 digits referenced in this offer."

I suppose its worth a shot to try to register via the link on the offer: http://www.chase.com/authuser

Got my e-mail today but no offer of bonus points. I charge nearly $2,000 per month.

I got an email today for this offer.

I am still thinking if 2010 points are worth adding a user. Seems a very small incentive to me.

What is the cost of adding someone? Isn't it free and just a couple minutes of your time, with no credit ding, etc, involved?

It's not a very lucrative offer, but mooper is right. It is free, takes about 30 seconds, and won't ding your credit. I was actually planning on adding my wife anyways, so the extra 2000 points is free bonus in my mind. Be aware that you are, however, responsible for any charges that the authorized user makes. I've heard quite a few tales where folks have added their girlfriend/boyfriend to their account only to get burned later.

I got the offer in the mail and added a user but have since misplaced the mailing. Did it say how long before the points post?

wish I'd have gotten it, I'd have added one of my kids; I'd never have to give him the card anyway so it would have been a few free points.. oh well the loss otoh isn't that big either
