Update: It seems that this promotion may be available even if you did not receive a postcard. Just send an email by online messaging to Chase to confirm that you can participate, then add the authorized user to your account. There is report that some are not eligible for this promotion though.

I received a postcard in the mail for my Chase BA Visa with an offer to get 5K bonus miles if I add an authorized user to the card between April 1 and May 15.

- Bonus will post 6-8 weeks after end of offer period.
- Bonus miles will go to the account of the primary card holder.
- Maximum of 5K miles from this offer (no miles for additional users).

Interestingly, the card says to add the user add chase.com/adduser or call a number, but does not provide any bonus code. There is also no language on the postcard about this offer being limited to only targeted account. However, my guess is that the offer is targeted.

That's strange. I added an user before I knew about this (I think when I signed up for the card). I didn't get any bonus (been > 8 weeks).

yup, this might be the way to go with this one, although who really knows with the Chase CSRs over the phone.

I don't think anyone can confirm yet, since the OP says the bonus will post 6-8 weeks after the offer ends on May 15th. Since it's free and takes about 5 minutes, I'm going to give it a try. Remind me around Bastille Day and I'll try to confirm whether or not it worked for me.

More likely Chase is seeking to increase market share at the expense of Bank of America and Citi. Airline affinity cards have proven more sucessful than other types of credit card rewards, as discussed here:

...and there is minimal administrative cost for the bank compared to operating a proprietary rewards program such as Membership Rewards, Ultimate Rewards,ThankYou Rewards.

I just signed up. BTW, the phone number is the same as on the back of the card. Now I have to follow up with all my friends who signed up for the 100k to tell them about this!
