New reservation process - How to insert a comment?
I couldn't see this answered in any thread...
With the new "enhanced" reservation process, how can I insert a comment when booking a room? I cannot find it anywhere. I've also tried to edit an already booked stay, but cannot find the comment field anymore.
I hope the comment field doesn't goes away, because it's an excellent place to insert wishes, hints, info etc. I guess in the meanwhile (if I don't find it on the web) is to call up reservations and have them to insert it, but that's a time consuming solution.

Thats extremely dissapointing if its gone for good. I used that a lot to put in short notes such as requesting a room upgrade.
In fact the "enhanced" res process isn't very friendly to me at all.

I surmise this wasn't by accident but caused by an prolonged outcry from innocent FD clerks sick of tap dancing around while trying to fulfill ignored requests at the last second.
I recall a disclaimer somewhere (not sure if it was Marriott) where comments might not be read until "the day of check-in". That would be fine but in reality, it was "the moment of check-in".
The box wasn't broken, the process to handle them was!

I am very disappointed this is gone, too. I used it often to note particular requests or details.

I just noticed when making reservations on the Marriott web site that there no longer exists the area (rectangular box) where an individual may make personal requests to the prospective hotel. Anyone else noticed this omission? I always made requests for Concierge Level upgrade, corner suite, or something similar. Even though my requests were frequently unfulfilled, I still liked the opportunity to make personal requests.

This is so, so, bad!
Will life really be easier for FD staff if I expect them to keep track of my earlier call/fax/email for room location or if I make them change my room three times at arrival instead of having something I want preassigned by the manager/day shift earlier in the day?!?

I have to admit that when the first part of the website upgrade took place a few weeks ago, I just could'n't see the point, but with the booking upgrade it all fitted and I do think this makes booking so much easier, since I always look for the best rate and now with one search most rates are displayed.
I am disappointed to note the disappearance of the comments box. In whose dictionary is that an improvement?
I seldom used the comments box, but did so on several occasions for different reasons and found it very useful, albiet most often I found I had to remind FD at checkin... Indeed, like Joshua, I think this has been abandoned as it was routinely ignored and hence caused checkin problems. As a hotel group thats not good, they should improve their work systems to ensure these requests are considered prior to arrival and dealt with, rather than simply abandoning the facility...

I spoke to the internet Customer Care folks and they indicated that it would be put back in - I guess Marriott is listening to their customers

I hope that it will retain the character limit. It requires us to be concise and reasonable with our requests.

Haven't booked a Marriott hotel for more than 6 months and was surprised that the box was gone when doing a ressie tonight.

What a shame, I recently used that to tell the Renaissance Times Square about my birthday, and they were very nice about it. Fortunately, the full service/Renaissances email you before hand, but I'm not sure about Courtyard's etc.

I hope they at least give us more than the 40 characters we had. My usual requests were "returning platinum guest, upgrade requested please, thank you" and "please combine this with reservation #8000xxxx, thank you". 40 characters was not enough for either of these requests.....and I hate to cut off the 'thanks'.
