E E O Certificate Question

Has anyone ever tried to use the EEO (free weekend night) certificate more than once?
I read and re-read the rules, and there does not seem to be any prohibition against making numerous copies of the certificate and using it at different Renaissance or Marriott hotels between March 5th and June 6th, 2010.

The website says it can be used once per member, not sure how they track this though.

I've not only used them more than once per quarter, but have used them on consecutive weekends at the same hotel. And have had no problems at all.

I have used the EEO's on several weekends during an available period, no problems, just printed out a copy whenever I needed it.

Alas, living in the UK, Marriott has decided in its wisdom not to make the current EEO's redeemable outside the US

Can you just show up @ the hotel with the certificate or do you have to call Marriott to make the reservation as it says on the certificate?

I've always called MR to setup my reservation. I do believe that while an EEO is usuable with most publicly available rates, the hotel can have black-out dates and can maybe limit the number used. So it would be a very good idea to call and make sure the EEO is usable for the date you want and the reservation reflects using the EEO.

+1

and once, i was in a hotel in tampa on a thurs-sat...decided to stay an extra night....the associate said, if you print another certificate you can just stay the extra night...SO..i used 2 over 1 weekend on a Thursday-Monday stay....^

I sometimes call the ressie line...but more often than not I write in the remarks that i have the EEO. Then when i call, the agent says...'oh it was already noted"....

IMHO if they didn't want/know that people would use them more than once, they should have stuck to the mailed copies....

I've had problems at one hotel (Blackstone in Chicago) because I made the reservation on-line as opposed to by phone, so make sure you do it by phone before arrival.

A month or so ago I called the Plat. desk to ask for clarification. I was told that you can use them more than once as long as you only use one per weekend at the same hotel ( for instance, we were with another couple and asked if we could gift them a certificate and were told only one member certificate per weekend at the same property).

I must be out of the loop -- what is an EEO and how does one attain one? Is this one of the offers I see regularly for stay 2 nights and get the third weekend night free?

You must be a Platinum member to receive this offer....

Find another Plat who will "gift" your friends one...and then return the favor.

We have had on-line problems, too. So now we do it on-line, and then call CS. One of those YMMV things.....

Interesting. I have used multiple EEOs exactly as you were told couldn't be done. We were staying with some friends and I made two copies of the cert and used one for each room over the same weekend.

Think on this, when you print out an EEO, is your MR# anywhere on it? I don't see it on mine. And given you can "gift" these to friends, I could print out 10 of these and give them to 10 friends all staying at the same hotel on the same weekend. The hotel would have no way to know, unless we told them, that every coupon came from my account.

I can see a hotel limiting the total number of coupons used per weekend (by anyone), but their ability to limit how many came from my printer is a little more hazy.
