Concierge room access
I traveled heavily and had access to it - my card shows that it expired in Feb 09.
I am traveling to Denver and wish to use the Concierge room.
What is the best way to get it?

From your post, I will assume you don't currently hold Gold or Plat elite status. Given that, your options are definitely limited.
As mentioned your quickest option is to just reserve a CL room. And as bitburgr mentions, if you are close to re-achieving Gold (i.e. 50 nights this year), then you might look at a couple of matress runs to get that Gold status again.
If you are nowhere, near close, but you have more than 12 nights in Marriotts coming up, you can call MR and ask about a Gold elite Challenge. They might offer you the normal 12 nights in 90 days to receive Gold status. Given that you have had it in the past, you might even be able to talk them into giving you a "Reverse Challenge". This is basically the same as a normal Challenge except that they give you the status, Gold, instantly. If you don't meet the 12 nights within 90 days, they will then take away your Gold status. If you stay the needed nights, you get to keep it for all of next year.

If you have silver status, I have heard of cases where people have been given club access.

Your expired card won't make a difference, if that's what you're hinting at by posting it both times. Concierge floor access is coded to your room key and the desk clerk will only see Silver status at checkin. You can try to ask for an upgrade or club floor access, but it's certainly not guaranteed as a Silver

I'll go a step further and say as a silver you have < %50 chance of being given CL access. If CL access is really that important to you, then pay the freight and book a CL level room.

In the Marriott I am staying at now, all you have to do is walk up the emergency exit stairs and you get free access to the CL.

You can pay extra for a Concierge Level room or find a clerk who will allow you access for nothing--the latter being the harder of the two to get. If the place is full then the floor may be sold out!

Warning, if you decide to "pay up" for it and haven't used a CL since Oct 2008, you are in for rude awakening. You might want to sneak in first and evaluate. (Yes I am bitter!)
