I'm staying at this property this coming Labour Day weekend. Already been upgraded to a suite using my suite awards which is great news. I noticed that the steak house on the property is closed for renovations. Anyone have recommendations for good restaurants nearby within walking distance of the hotel?

Just thought of something else since you have a suite. I recommend to stay away from suites on high floors. Try mid or lower floors instead. Your room will take a beating from the rooftop terrace music, which goes on on weekends until I think 2am. We took this advice from the front desk clerk and it was right on the money.

Good advice. I have stayed at this property before and recognize its a party location on the weekends. I tried to make reservations at POV via their website - their rooftop terrace - but discovered there are no openings on friday or saturday night. I wonder if a guest of the hotel could get in with the help of the hotel conceriege. I must inquire.

W Washington Hotel
Had a great stay at this property over the Labour Day weekend. Got upgraded to a corner suite. Staff throughout the hotel were very friendly. Despite being 4 floors below the rooftop lounge i could still faintly hear music at night. It wasnt an annoyance but i was sure glad i wasnt on a higher floor. One Block away there was a 'Corner Bakery' shop which served my breakfast food requirements each morning. Also someone in this thread recommended a restaurant nearby called Zaytinya which i tried and found it fabulous. The Room however did have 1 inch shag carpet throughout which was nice underfoot but i shutter to imagine what lurks deep down in those fibers. !! I would recommend this property to those visiting Washington DC.

The hotel recognizes their noise problems from the rooftop bar and proactively provided earplugs in the rooms that I've stayed in. Nonetheless, those who sleep very lightly should consider staying on the lower floors (this would make for shorter elevator rides too).

Had a great stay this past weekend at the W Washington DC. It was my first experience at W Hotel and I really enjoyed it.
We arrived before check-in time on Friday at around 11 and had a Wonderful room ready for us immediately along with 2 free drink coupons, (I believe because I had tweeted to them about looking forward to our stay). The room was small, but that was expected. The shower in our Wonderful room was basically a frosted glass box that left little to the imagination, just fyi. The location of the hotel is perfect for walking over to the national mall and exploring. We went up to the rooftop bar at sunset for awesome views of the White House and DC as a whole. Breakfast was delicious albeit expensive at the J&G Steakhouse. Overall, I'd highly recommend this property if staying in Washington DC.

I have stayed here a few times when the St Regis isn't available. I try to avoid it however due to noise. The walls are incredibly thin. You can literally here everything going on in the rooms next to you and in the hallways. I had quite the experience one week where there appeared to be someone 'working' out of his room next to me. I'll spare the details but there was a lot of activity, noise, and visitors into that room. On the plus side, the location is great and the gym, while very small, is nice and modern.

anyone else there saturday night?
singer chris brown has been charged with assault after an altercation at 425AM sunday morning outside w hotel in washington.
We were there on Saturday night as well and went up to the bar. Chris Brown (we assume) had rented out the Roof Terrace for a party until 8:30 pm. Lots of people and loud music up there, obviously. When we left for dinner, we saw his bus outside the hotel. We had no idea who it was or what was going on until I saw Chris Brown had been arrested outside the hotel and the article had a picture of his tour bus.

J&G Steakhouse Closing
Heads up to those coming to Washington, the J&G Steakhouse will be closing shortly and a new restaurant is not expected to open in the W until "later this summer"
Chef from Westin St. John coming to DC to take over all f&b outlets in hotel.
