I bet Bruce is right, because the hotel submits the charge to Marriott HQ as, say C$212 & HQ uses the rate on the MARSHA (Marriott intranet) system, which is close to Mid-Market or Visa forex.

Everything went smoothly and I got a fair exchange rate. Thanks for the help!
Now Just need Marriott to run the 10% off GC promo again. |
Me, too!

Apologies if this is covered ground.
Can I use Marriott GCs to pay for a lunch at The Renaissance in Dublin even though I am not staying there as a guest? Thank you. |

Yes, you should be able to. While I have no personal experience with this, I believe the gift cards can be used for any expenses incurred at the Marriott group of hotels.

The above is very true! I recently tried to use a gift card to pay for breakfast in the Tropik restaurant of the Marriott Marco Island and what a major situation as they seemed unable to take it. In the end, I actually had to leave the card with them and they mailed it back to me at my home a few days later with the appropriate amount withdrawn from my card. Worldspan Naples, Florida |

Of course this is presuming the restaurant allows room charges. If not, you'll probably be out of luck using the GC. |

Does anyone know if Singapore Marriott accept Marriott Gift card(US issued)?

Any recent experiences in using Marriott gift card at interntional properties?
Since the info on this thread is kind of old, I hope those who have used the Marriott Gift Cards at International properties post your experiences.
Because we hardly do domestic travels nowadays, I really hope to be able to use the Marriott gift card outside US without hiccup. Thanks for posting. |
Reach out to the hotel ahead of time (you can find email addresses on this site or use Skype to call inexpensively) letting them know you will be using a Gift Card. When I don't do this, there is sometimes confusion, depending on who is at the front desk. When I do this, there is usually an envelope containing information to walk the front desk person through accepting the Gift Card.
I also settle up with the Gift Card the night before check out, or early in the morning before checking out. Waiting until your cab is ready to take you to the airport is inviting trouble. Others say this is overkill. Maybe it is, but it's allowed me to quickly check out without any issues when using Gift Cards. |

The targeted property is Renaissance Imperial Riding School in Vienna.
I could not find their email address. Why Marriott chains make it so difficult to find the hotel email address? Other chains have the email us function on each property's web page. Anyone can help? |
