It's a nice property. But top ten?! You need to get out more. Marriott has so many great properties in their portfolio. Try renaissance
Phuket (beach villa). Marriott Beijing great wall. Renaissance Bangkok. Jw Marriott khao lak. Ritz Carleton battery park. Outside Marriott how about mandarin oriental chiang Mai. It's been voted one of the ten places To stay before you die and it's true! Again for a reasonably priced us property renaissance Sonoma is nice indeed. BTW - their comment re: the property was an addition to their main point (and the topic of this thread ;)), which is how gift cards were handled. Cheers. |

In the US, most of my work stays have not been in FS properties. On reflection, you're right about it not being a standout property; my wife and I have just had great times there and the staff was very attentive. Now that I'm retired, we're hitting more FS properties. I stayed at the Lima, Peru JW last week and was very impressed. |

I've never stayed at a Marriott property in Asia. I've traveled to Germany quite a bit but never stayed at a great place there.

My comment was a tongue in cheek kind of way to nudge you into traveling more. I always like to encourage people. Especially retirees, to see more of the world. Some of my best trips have been staying in grass huts, actually
My trip to Lima was due to my wife being there on business; we made the trek to Machu Picchu. Also, I'm finally ready to get back to work doing something else - I'm 'only' 50. :p |

But did you get points? :D :D
Cheers. I have more points than I know what to do with. And I made platinum premier for both 2011 and 2012 on January 1 via rollover nights alone. Nice one tho! |
GC for stay... can I get two?
I'm looking at staying at a Renaissance property offering a $100 GC for a one night stay (see rate rules below). I'm thinking of checking-in and checking-out for one night, then turning right around and checking-in for the second night stay. Does this allow me two GCs?

Anyone??
|
Since Marriott counts back-to-back stays as a single stay would seem like the hotel would count your back-to-back reservations likewise, but who knows, you might get lucky (if you're traveling with someone can't you split the nights into back-to-back nights but using different names)
|
Or check into a different hotel...
|
op: this will be luck of the draw. if you get someone nice maybe theyll give you the 2nd gc, but dont count on it
|
The property is very nice, and North Hills is very pedestrian friendly and has everything from Target to boutiquest,
but... Is your rate $299/night? If so, you would likely do better getting a regular rate and paying for the Internet. The rate at that hotel is often around $150, especially in the summer. If you aren't going in the next few weeks, there would likely be an EEO that would save you even more if you are going on a weekend. You need to be Plat to access the EEO, but if you know anyone who is Plat, he/she can print the cert for you and you can use the EEO, unless the terms change on the next EEO. At the very least, if you cannot get two GCs, do the first night at that rate and the second night at a lower rate, if possible. I would make two reservations, one for the first night at the GC rate and the second at a lower rate, and explain at check-in. |

Any experience?
I have just received my giftcards from Discover America, and they cannot be used as Visa card anymore. Online chat told me, that they cannot be used online, so I sent an email, hoping to get an answer soon. I will call later Marriott Rewards to get confirmation or to see if it can be done over the phone. |
No luck buying reward points with Marriott gift card
